@rmw Where the distributions are not built with GNU or Linux, it is appropriate to use the naming of what ever is being used instead.

Richard Stallman has used both GNU slash Linux and GNU plus Linux.
Honestly, as long as both are mentioned when both are included when addressing the system being referred to there shouldn't be any issues.
An example: I strongly object to just referring to a distribution which contains GNU and the Linux Kernel like Debian as just "Linux".
The main point of using GNU in the name is to at least have recognition of fundamental parts of the system and how they exist because of the GNU and Free Software movement.

I'm actually worried more about Apple than Google...
With Google, we are handing them our data and we know they are gonna use it "against us" but while distrusting Google and trusting Apple, we give Apple a very good oppurtinity to screw us even harder than Google...
@rmw For systems which use GNU and the Linux Kernel it is proper to call the system GNU/Linux.
@Purism Can you add your own repositories to download software from another source so we aren't hand cuffed to one centralized app store?

I have to disagree with your conclusion that "open source" is interchangeable with "Free Software".
Companies like Microsoft and others produce what they call "open source" software which goes against everything I stand for in the Free Software Movement.
Digital Restrictions Management, promotion of other non-free technologies is very harmful but often associated by those who use the Open Source terminology.

Use firefox and modify it so that it serves you and respects your dignity.
On PrivacyTools.io follow the guides that show you how to modify firefox in about:config.
Some websites may break, however I have only noticed Google Drive Videos not to work which I confess to still using.
Its all wise or well when Warren Buffet is giving advice on television about how the smart way to look after your money when investing is to acquire a company or business that turns a profit that you can keep rather than investing in stocks or crypto which depend on whether someone will pay a higher price for it but....
How are most people going to be able to acquire companies as alternative forms of investment?
Which I agree are smarter strategically as they turn a payout that doesn't depend on speculation, however you have to have plenty of money to do that.
For example, Warren Buffet frequently in interviews mentions buying/owning a farm.
Its not like I have the money to buy a farm.
Does anyone have anything to say on this topic?
Everyone has to start from somewhere.
