ALT TEXT:
We need a law called the
"Donald J. Trump Act" that makes it clear that a sitting president CAN be indicted for crimes.
By naming the law after Trump, it will remind people for generations to come of Trump's corruption and ensure the name Trump will forever be associated with criminality.
@TheOldGuy But the current #SCOTUS would rule that unconstitutional unless the sitting president were someone they dislike, then it'd be a great law.
@jackcole the key is that a sitting president needs to be impeached and removed from office first if he's so clearly done wrong as to warrant indictment.
And if the people we elect to Congress don't think the guy's done something to warrant removal from office, then it's hard to say we want him indicted.
THAT's why SCOTUS says you can't take such action against a sitting president. It's deference to the democratic process.
