A rescuer from Odessa from the now famous photo spoke about what happened to him on March 15 after the shelling of the city.

After the Russian attack on Odessa, houses were burning, and there were already the first casualties and injuries. Alexander Dontsov arrived at the scene with other rescuers and doctors. At this moment, the Russian army launched a second strike on this place.

“I just remember how I scream, my face caught fire,” Alexander said in an interview published by the State Emergency Service.

“I remember how I flew about 40 meters. Everything hurts and fragments hit me. It’s impossible to get up. I was afraid to open my eyes,” says Alexander. Then he crawled out and helped carry out his colleague.

“The last thing I saw before I passed out by the tree was the girl from the press service,” says Alexander about the photograph, which later appeared in many media outlets.

Junior Lieutenant Andrii Keidalyuk died on August 12, 2023 in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Andriy was 42 years old. He lived in Odessa. He worked in the municipal guard. He was fond of hunting.

"Everyone knew him as a brave, kind and sensitive person. This is a person who always radiated light, a smile shone on his face in any situation," said niece Victoria Shepel.

On February 24, 2022, the man joined the ranks of the territorial defense. Later he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He was awarded the orders of combatant, war veteran, "Unity and Will", as well as the "Indomitable Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War" medal.

"Andrei never gave up and went to victory. He was a brave, purposeful, intelligent and brave warrior. He came to help, never left his brothers in trouble," shared the niece.

Russians destroy Ukrainian churches and torture priests in the occupied territories, — Institute for Religious Freedom.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has destroyed or damaged about 630 religious buildings. Most of them were destroyed in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson regions.

A volunteer from Georgia, Tengiz Chania, died at the front in Ukraine. He served in the 3rd OShBr in the Avdiivka-Marinka direction.

Tengiz took part in the Russian-Ukrainian war since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

During his service, he was wounded twice, but after recovering, he returned to the front both times.

8-year-old Veronika Khitsai died with her father in Zaporizhzhia on March 22, 2024.

In the morning of that day, the Russian military once again attacked the city with rockets.

Veronika studied at local school #29. She loved to draw and play with animals. She loved to come up with recipes for various delicacies and cook together with her mother.

"Veronichka loved watching the TV series "House of Happiness". She was a real incredibly bright angel. All the best character traits are about her. Very friendly, sociable, beautiful," Aunt Olena said.

The girl is survived by her mother, grandfather and uncle.

​​💔 The life of Nazar Smirnov ended on March 9, 2024 in the village of Prydniprovsky, in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In the morning of that day, he and his older brother Yaroslav were walking from the church to the store when the Russian military fired artillery.

As a result of the impact, Nazar died on the spot, and his brother Yaroslav was hospitalized in a hospital in Dnipro.

Nazarov was 16 years old. He is from Nikopol region. He first studied at the Kamian Lyceum, and then transferred to the Prydniprovsky Lyceum. Student. He adored football and participated in various competitions.

"He was the soul of the company, an extremely positive and friendly young man, always ready to support others," said the deceased at the lyceum where he studied.

"Nazar was a very cheerful, sociable and kind boy. He had many friends at school and even found a common language with high school students. In the family he was a master, he always helped his grandmother. He loved to play football. Before the day of his death, I still saw him going to football field to another village," added Karina, who knew the Smirnov brothers.

Nazar is survived by his grandmother, brothers, sister and other relatives.
