Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd degree, to a doctor at the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv, which Russia hit with missiles on July 8.

We are talking about a native of Simferopol, a pediatric maxillofacial surgeon at the hospital's reconstructive plastic microsurgery department, Oleg Golubchenko, who was operating on a 5-month-old child during the attack.

The man studied at the Crimean State Medical University, but after the occupation of the peninsula in 2014, he was forced to leave for Kyiv.

The photo of doctor Oleg Golubchenko, who, in bloody medical clothing, is clearing away the rubble of the hospital where he works, is remembered by everyone.

When the enemy missile hit, the surgeon was performing an operation on a five-month-old child. The medical staff were injured by the debris, covering the child with themselves. Once they were sure that the child was okay and transferred to another hospital to complete the operation, Oleg, with a back wound, hurried to clear away the rubble to free his colleagues and patients.

In Russia, there are plans to expand the mechanism that allows individuals to be sent to war in Ukraine by including those already on trial, according to the BBC. The Russian Supreme Court has proposed that criminal cases against individuals who agree to fight in Ukraine could be halted not only during the preliminary investigation stage but also during court proceedings.

The proposed law, which aims to extend the "mechanism for the release of SMO participants from criminal liability," was presented at the Supreme Court's plenary session and is expected to be submitted to the State Duma for consideration.

This practice of exempting individuals from criminal responsibility has become more common in Russia, particularly after prisoners who received amnesty were sent to fight in the war. In March of this year, amendments to criminal legislation were enacted, allowing for the suspension of criminal cases against individuals who are either undergoing military service or have signed a contract for military service during the mobilization period.

The new proposal suggests applying this exemption mechanism even during court proceedings, specifically when a criminal case has already been sent to court and is being heard in the court of first instance or on appeal.

Volodymyr nicknamed "Fill" - a combat medic of the 112th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Volodymyr never dreamed of becoming a soldier. He only knew about wars from textbooks and monographs he read during his studies at the history faculty of Kyiv National University named after Shevchenko. He had his own business. Met a large-scale invasion on vacation:
"I just went skiing in Bukovel, and I skied there... I immediately took my family closer to the border, and I myself returned to Kyiv and joined the ranks of the 112th brigade."

"Fill" is a combat medic from the "Angels" unit, who, as crews assigned to battalions, is engaged in the evacuation of the wounded and performs tasks of providing emergency medical aid. He says he could never have thought that he would learn how to put catheters with drips, but when such a need arose, he did everything to be useful: "There were difficult moments. In the spring of 2023, we were with the 127th Territorial Defense Battalion of Kyiv in Serebryansky Forest. There was a big assault on our positions. Enemies had a significantly increased contingent, then they tried to break through to the borders of the Luhansk region. We had three days when we didn't sleep at all, we didn't even have time to eat. We refueled the cars and returned to the forest to our positions to help the boys."

In general, the "Angels" have more than a thousand rescued soldiers. After two and a half years of war, the most pleasant thing for "Phil" is to meet fellow citizens with whom he once crossed paths. Although the situation at the front is difficult and often not laughable there, he remembers several funny stories: "Once we took one soldier from the positions, jumped back, and recorded his data on the way. He says: call sign "Bes". Well, it's cool, I say, angels carry the devil. And he: "Guys, don't drop me off, I'll change the call sign! And one, as soon as the connection явився зв , called his wife. He says: everything is fine, well, it hurt, don't worry, the "Angels" are taking me! She, poor thing, thought that he was already saying goodbye to her."

Without humor in war, it is very difficult psychologically, says "Phil". And he also dreams that each new rotation will be the last.
"To be honest, every time I think that we will go now, our offensive will begin, we will drive them away, like then, during the Kharkiv operation. They will flee, and then there will be some negotiations, the capitulation of the Russian Federation, everything will be over and you will come home... Time passes, my children grow up. The war started when they were 10 years old, today they are 13. It was especially difficult when I did not see them for the first almost two years. I was escorting the little ones, and here there are already such personalities. We had to catch up, adapt to what they are interested in."

According to Volodymyr, with more powerful support from partners, the imperialist ambitions of the Russians could be suppressed for several centuries: "To forget about them for 200 years... This is a very difficult war. What we stand for is only thanks to the self-sacrifice of our people, who today on the battlefield do not spare either their lives or their health , but go and do their job - defend their Motherland."

For the first time in Ukraine , "Tactical Medicine Pivnich" held a course on Prolonged Casualty Care (PCC) for combat medics of the 12th "Azov" brigade.

Intensive training included both theoretical lessons and practical scenarios. At the PCC course, Azov doctors studied in detail:

🔹 Prolonged medical care procedures in combat conditions: how to provide assistance to the wounded if evacuation is delayed for hours or even days?
🔹 Application of advanced medical technologies: use of modern equipment and tools to stabilize the wounded.
🔹 Advanced methods of bleeding control.
🔹 Work with septic shock.
🔹 Providing assistance in conditions of lack of resources. Resource management.
🔹 Long-term analgesia.
🔹 Wound care.

Thanks to the course, the participants will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and prepare for real combat conditions.

The 12th "Azov" brigade is grateful to "Pivnich" Tactical Medicine for conducting courses for our soldiers and for their joint readiness to be the first to use new approaches. Our doctors are always working on implementing new medical methods and improving their skills.

We make an important contribution to the improvement of the level of medical training of servicemen of the Defense Forces. This cooperation is already bearing results. We are sure that with joint efforts we will achieve more in saving lives.

Together we are a force.

☢️ Russia has been training to launch nuclear strikes on targets in Europe, according to classified documents seen by the Financial Times

The maps, prepared between 2008 and 2014, contain targets for strikes with both conventional and nuclear missiles. The targets are military installations and critical infrastructure. In addition to Europe, the documents outline scenarios of possible conflicts with countries currently friendly to Russia - Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, China, and North Korea.

In the plan, the Russian military noted the "advantages of nuclear strikes in the early stages of conflicts" and mentioned the option of a "demonstration strike" - detonating nuclear weapons in a remote area to intimidate Western countries.

73-year-old Hanna Holovatska died on March 5, 2022 under the rubble of her own cellar in the village of Hrushuvaha in the Kharkiv region. A Russian missile hit there.

Anna comes from Volyn. By distribution, she got a job at a collective farm in Hrushuvas. She worked as an agronomist, cashier, and milkmaid. She was also a postman.

Anna was the mother of three children. She survived the loss of two sons - one died in a fire at the age of 5, the other died suddenly at the age of seven.

"Mother was highly respected in the village. She was calm, smiling, very hospitable," recalled daughter Lyudmila.

The deceased is survived by her husband, daughter, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Russia is launching newly manufactured missiles at Ukraine, which may suggest a rapid depletion of its pre-war stockpiles, according to The New York Times.

Analysts from the British non-governmental organization Conflict Armament Research (CAR) examined the Kh-101 missile that struck the Ohmatdyt hospital on July 8 and determined it was produced between April 1 and June 30, 2024.

"This indicates that Russian forces are using these weapons as soon as they come off the assembly line," the article states. It also highlights that Russia continues to produce advanced weapons despite Western sanctions aimed at slowing down its production.

Since November 2022, analysts have studied fragments of 12 Kh-101 cruise missiles and found that most were launched within about two months of production. This, they believe, suggests that the Russian military has quickly exhausted its pre-war reserves.
