The German IRIS-T air defense systems have proven to be 100% effective in Ukraine, according to military historian Andriy Haruk, who wrote about this in a blog for "Militarnyy."

Russia sends 447 goats to North Korea after Kim Jong Un sucks up to Putin - Politico

After a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in June at which the international pariahs discussed mutual cooperation, Moscow has delivered a gift to Pyongyang. Russia sent, drumroll, 447 goats to the North Korean city of Rason, the Russian agriculture safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said in a press release.

The goats, which were exported from Russia’s Leningrad region, represent a first batch of farm animals that Russia intends to deliver to North Korea.

The goats will provide dairy products to local children to relieve North Korea’s food shortages, mainly caused by government-related policies, with the situation getting worse during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Human Rights Watch, 10.7 million out of 25.9 million people in North Korea are malnourished, and 18 percent of children have impaired growth and development due to chronic malnutrition.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd degree, to a doctor at the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv, which Russia hit with missiles on July 8.

We are talking about a native of Simferopol, a pediatric maxillofacial surgeon at the hospital's reconstructive plastic microsurgery department, Oleg Golubchenko, who was operating on a 5-month-old child during the attack.

The man studied at the Crimean State Medical University, but after the occupation of the peninsula in 2014, he was forced to leave for Kyiv.

When the enemy missile hit, the surgeon was performing an operation on a five-month-old child. The medical staff were injured by the debris, covering the child with themselves. Once they were sure that the child was okay and transferred to another hospital to complete the operation, Oleg, with a back wound, hurried to clear away the rubble to free his colleagues and patients.

In Russia, there are plans to expand the mechanism that allows individuals to be sent to war in Ukraine by including those already on trial, according to the BBC. The Russian Supreme Court has proposed that criminal cases against individuals who agree to fight in Ukraine could be halted not only during the preliminary investigation stage but also during court proceedings.

The proposed law, which aims to extend the "mechanism for the release of SMO participants from criminal liability," was presented at the Supreme Court's plenary session and is expected to be submitted to the State Duma for consideration.

This practice of exempting individuals from criminal responsibility has become more common in Russia, particularly after prisoners who received amnesty were sent to fight in the war. In March of this year, amendments to criminal legislation were enacted, allowing for the suspension of criminal cases against individuals who are either undergoing military service or have signed a contract for military service during the mobilization period.

The new proposal suggests applying this exemption mechanism even during court proceedings, specifically when a criminal case has already been sent to court and is being heard in the court of first instance or on appeal.
