A teenager was tragically killed by electrocution near the train station in Vyshneve. According to the Bucha Police Department in Kyiv region, the two boys had climbed onto freight cars when one of them was electrocuted by a high-voltage line. The other was taken away by an ambulance and is not in danger.

Yes, many people will escape long-term health damage--probably. But not everyone will. In future years, the stats we see about rising heart attacks, diabetes, and other serious health problems will represent real people suffering because they didn't know (or ignored) that they still needed modest precautions to keep themselves and loved ones safe and healthy. Many will look back and wonder why they thought a mask was such a major inconvenience compared to the reduced quality of life they face.

Welp, here's the most bonkers editorial feedback I've ever gotten. Editor tells me he's removed my reference to union organizing in a story because the audience for his publication is on average in their mid-60s and "wouldn't relate." I was like, um, you do know that union organizing in the US was at its peak in the 1950s, right? Our elders were unionized. I think it's clear where this magazine's anti-union edits are coming from.
