Yesterday (03/14/23), one person was killed and nine were wounded as a result of shelling of a residential building in Kramatorsk. Kostyantynivka and some regions of Donetsk region were under constant fire from MLRS/ADS/ARS. There was increased activity of tactical aviation throughout the day, with X-31P anti-radar missiles being launched in the direction of Odesa region, all of which were shot down. There was also movement of Tu-22m3s and Tu-95s within the Western region of Russia. Three times a state of emergency was declared due to the takeoff of a MiG-31K from Savasleyka airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia. Additionally, a Su-27 fighter jet of the Russian Air Force shot down a US Army MQ-9 reconnaissance UAV over the Black Sea, and the Russian Navy conducted an operation to recover the wreckage.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the American drone was allegedly flying towards Russia, had a transponder that allows the vessel to be recognized, and also flew in violation of the boundaries of the area of a special military operation. We weren't surprised by this behavior from them.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that an American drone was heading towards Russia, had a transponder that would allow it to be identified, and was flying in violation of the boundaries of a special military operation. They claim that the MQ-9 crashed into the water due to sudden maneuvering and that Russian Su-27s did not attack or engage it.

The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv sentenced the organizer of a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property for plotting to murder the Minister of Defense and the Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine in exchange for a reward of between USD 100,000 and USD 150,000, as well as a prominent Ukrainian activist.
This morning, two Russian Su-27 aircraft engaged in a dangerous and unprofessional interception of a U.S. MQ-9 reconnaissance UAV over the Black Sea. One of the Su-27s collided with the MQ-9's propeller, forcing U.S. forces to sink the MQ-9 in international waters. Prior to the collision, the Su-27s had flown recklessly and dangerously close to the MQ-9, and had dumped fuel in an environmentally hazardous manner. This incident highlights the incompetence and unprofessionalism of the Russian side, and could have resulted in the crash of both aircraft and an unintended escalation of the situation. The MQ-9 was conducting routine operations in international airspace.
The United States is calling for the Russian ambassador to the State Department in response to the incident involving a US drone over the Black Sea, according to State Department spokesman Ned Price.
Excuse me, isn't this an extreme escalation? Seems like an act of war to me.
