In four months as Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson has given Russia a chance to win its war in Ukraine, and thereby turn the world towards tyranny.
Johnson's term of office consists of stratagems to avoid funding Ukraine. He and a minority of Trumpist Republicans have left Ukrainians without the means to defend themselves, and enabled Russian aggressors to retake Ukrainian territory. As a result, troops are killed and disabled every day.
Around the world, Johnson's behavior is seen as betrayal and weakness. We tend to focus on the details of Johnson's various excuses, rather than seeing the larger pattern. Johnson's success in making the war a story about him exemplifies the American propensity to miss the big picture.
Alive? Thank a Ukrainian. The great American capacity is to take others for granted, and our specific form of hubris blinds us to the great services others perform for us. The resistance of the Ukrainian armed forces and Ukrainian civil society is holding back every form of modern catastrophe. Ukrainians are preserving an order established after the Second World War, but also pointing the way towards a brighter future. Their tremendous daily efforts have pushed the world toward a set of better alternatives we would all lack without them. But they need us at their back.
An elementary form of apocalypse is genocide. Russia is making war on Ukraine with the genocidal goal of eliminating Ukrainian society as such. It consciously fights its war with its own national minorities, and takes every opportunity to spread racist propaganda.
Russian occupiers deport Ukrainian children, rape Ukrainian women, castrate Ukrainian men, and murder Ukrainian cultural leaders with this purpose in mind. They keep children out of school and force families into emigration, all with the goal of putting all with the goal of putting an end to a nation.

The Traffic shut down on the Crimean Bridge amid reports of explosions during the night.
Russian proxy authorities in occupied Crimea shut down traffic on the Crimean Bridge in the early hours of March 3, amid reports of explosions in Feodosia.
Authorities announced that vehicle traffic was blocked on the bridge at around 3:40 a.m. local time. Earlier in the night, local Telegram channels reported that residents heard sounds of explosions near an oil depot in Feodosia.
No reason was given for the traffic closure. Russian officials and the Russian Defense Ministry have not yet commented on reports of explosions.
The bridge, also called the Kerch Bridge, connects the Russian mainland with the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula. Construction on the bridge began after the illegal 2014 annexation and occupation of Crimea, and was completed in 2018.
The 19-kilometer long bridge is a critical supplies and transport route for Russian forces in Crimea and mainland Ukraine, and has been the target of repeated attacks following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to Google maps the illegal bridge is still closed.

According to our sources close to Ekaterina Mizulina, an interesting conversation recently took place between her and Vladimir Putin.
Mizulina complained to the president about her nickname “Barbie.” It was, as we wrote , given by Western tabloids after it became known about her relationship with the president. Ekaterina Mikhailovna asked to do something about it.
Putin was surprised and replied that he liked the nickname “Barbie”. But, if it is unpleasant for Catherine, then he will order it to be sorted out. Vladimir Vladimirovich did not
specify how he would deal with the Western press.
At the same time, he does everything possible to make Mizulina feel comfortable. So, it was by order of the president that Ekaterina Mikhailovna was provided with additional security in Tyumen .

France is considering allowing its special forces and other units to be in Ukraine
The measure is seen as a means of creating a “strategic dilemma” for Russia, Le Monde reports, citing sources:
"The idea of allowing these military trainers to cross the Ukrainian border, potentially with other conventional units, is at the center of French thinking."
A French military presence could protect some territories of Ukraine and limit attacks from the occupiers.
The newspaper quotes a Ukrainian diplomat:
"All allied states are present in Ukraine. These are not combat units, but, for example, representatives of all intelligence services are present there. If there are deliveries of weapons, then there must be people there who physically provide information on how to use this equipment. Ukraine is also used as a testing ground for new equipment. Drones are being tested. Of course, professionals of this kind work on the ground."

In the morning, people are again bringing flowers to the Borisov cemetery and memorials in the neighborhood.
Although in the regions security forces and communal services employees have been trying to destroy memorials in memory of Navalny, in Moscow microdistricts, the authorities have not yet prevented people from saying goodbye to the murdered opposition leader. People are also allowed into the cemetery: the mountain of flowers at Navalny’s grave continues to grow.
This morning, Alexei and Yulia Navalny mothers returned to the cemetery.
Spontaneous memorials also appeared in the areas nearby: candles, flowers with Navalnys name, a cube with the names of other murdered politicians and journalists - Boris Nemtsov, Anna Politkovskaya.

A rescue operation lasted all day in Odesa at the site of the Russian strike by a Shahed drone. Currently, the State Emergency Service, police, and other services continue to work – there is information about people under the rubble.
Such attacks by Shahed drones have no military sense and cannot have any. This is terrorism aimed solely at destroying lives, solely at intimidating people.
The world knows what can be opposed to terrorism. The world has enough missile defense systems, systems to protect against Shahed drones and missiles. And delaying the supply of weapons to Ukraine, missile defense systems to protect our people leads, unfortunately, to such losses, to the fact that the list of children whose lives Russia takes away constantly grows.
