German political figures have reacted angrily to a report that Russia had plotted to kill the head of Germany's biggest arms company Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger.

The CNN report said US officials had told their counterparts in Berlin earlier this year and security around him was stepped up.

Germany's interior ministry refused to comment but Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock appeared to confirm the details.

"In view of latest reports on Rheinmetall, this is what we have actually been communicating more and more clearly in recent months," she told reporters at the Nato summit in Washington. "Russia is waging a hybrid war of aggression."

In Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov rejected the allegations. "It's all presented in the style of another fake story, so such reports cannot be taken seriously."

Rheinmetall avoided commenting on issues of "corporate security", but Mr Papperger is now being described as the most highly protected figure in Germany's economy. He told the Financial Times that German authorities had imposed a "great deal of security around my person".

The company is one of the world's biggest producers of ammunition and has become key to supplying Ukraine with arms, armoured vehicles and other military equipment.

Medvedev called for preparations for the complete takeover of Ukraine after signing peace with Kyiv

Russia needs to prepare to seize the entire territory of Ukraine after Moscow and Kyiv sign a peace treaty and end the war, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

“Even having signed the papers and accepted defeat, the remaining part of the radicals [in Ukraine], after a regrouping of forces, will sooner or later return to power, inspired by Russia’s Western enemies. And then the time will come to finally crush the reptile,” Medvedev wrote in his Telegram channel. According to him, at this moment Russia will have to “drive a long steel nail into the coffin of Bandera’s quasi-state,” as well as “destroy the remnants of his bloody legacy and return the remaining lands to the bosom of the Russian land.”

“But the enemies of Russia will not go anywhere after this. They will accumulate strength and wait for a new convenient reason to destroy our country. We must be prepared for future battles to defend the Fatherland,” Medvedev emphasized.

Renew Europe calls on European Council to stop Hungary’s ongoing presidency – Europe live
‘It is time to rein in Viktor Orbán’s rogue presidency of the Council,’ says president of liberal group after Orbán visits Putin in Moscow

The head of the liberal Renew Europe group has called on the European Council to explore all means to stop Hungary’s ongoing presidency of the Council of the EU.
Hungary took over the rotating presidency on 1 July for a period of six months, but has the country’s prime minister, Viktor Orbán, has already fuelled controversy with a trip to visit Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Valérie Hayer, the president of Renew Europe and an ally of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, said today that “the Hungarian prime minister is undermining positions adopted by the European Union and acting contrary to our interests and it has to stop.”
“It is time to rein in Viktor Orbán’s rogue presidency of the Council.,” she said.

These Ukrainian Defenders were completely surrounded by Russians for 70 days, but held their positions.

In the photo: a combined group of warriors from the 225th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 223rd Marine Battalion who had been in position for 70 days without rotation.

"The operation to break through the logistics route to the guys who were surrounded lasted more than 2 months. While we were trying to clear the way, the fighters held a circular defense, repelling the occupiers' attacks around the clock. The only way to supply them was through drones, which we used to deliver ammunition, food and water," the 225th Battalion said in a statement.

Despite being wounded and under constant pressure from the enemy, the Defenders held their position and were sent for rotation as soon as possible.

Glory! Glory! Glory!

The SSJ that crashed in the Moscow region carried gas workers all over the country and had been doing so successfully since 2015. But something went wrong during the repairs and now the commission will have to find out what exactly. Oleg Smirnov, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Commission of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor, told Zvezda about this.

He noted that this particular SSJ was manufactured back in 2014 and is 75% made up of Western components. Now, due to sanctions, it is quite difficult to repair them.

At the same time, Smirnov emphasized that the plane was flown by an experienced crew and there can be no complaints about it.

"Kyiv is preparing to destroy the dams of the Kyiv and Kaniv reservoirs" - Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Zakharova.

This is a favorite Russian tactic of the Russians - to accuse Ukraine of a crime Russia is planning to commit. This was the case when the Kakhovka HPP dam was blown up.

The destruction of Kyiv hydroelectric power plant is one of the favorite scare stories of Z-propagandists.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zakharova once again made provocative statements.

" Kyiv is preparing to destroy the dams of the Kyiv HPP and the Kaniv Reservoir, this will be another cynical provocation against the Russian Federation ."

Although Sakharova's statement looks like an attempt to provide Russia with an alibi before a terrorist attack, the Center for Combating Disinformation believes that the statement is an attempt by the Kremlin to cause panic, fear and confusion amongst the Ukrainian public.

Together with planted narratives about "peace at any price" they hope for Ukraine to de-facto capitulate, according to the Center.
