WSJ: Vienna has become major Russian spy hub for anti-Western operations in Europe

The capital of Austria has become a major Russian spy center in Europe, where Moscow agents are planning and conducting anti-Western special operations, The Wall Street Journal has reported, citing sources in Austrian intelligence.

The publication notes that over the past two years, the number of Russian state employees in Austria has increased to over 500. More than half of them are diplomats. However, according to Austrian intelligence estimates, up to half of them are spies.

European and American intelligence reports that Vienna is now a base for Russian covert operations, including funding and logistical support for assassinations, sabotage, and spy recruitment across Europe, as well as industrial espionage and influence operations.

EU approves sanctions against Belarus

These sanctions are designed to reflect some of the restrictive measures against the Russian Federation and thus solve the problem of circumventing sanctions.

The website of the EU Council refers in particular to the expansion of restrictions on the export of advanced technologies, dual-use goods or goods that can help strengthen the Belarusian industrial potential. This also applies to maritime goods and technologies and luxury goods. Imports of gold and diamonds, helium, coal and mineral products, including crude oil, were restricted.

Not a single day passes without the Kremlin’s talking heads finding yet another scapegoat to explain the tragedies of Russia’s own making.

In a timely example of pro-Kremlin finger-pointing, disinformers quickly spread baseless allegations that Ukrainian intelligence and NATO countries masterminded the terror attacks in Dagestan.

These false claims are part of recurring pro-Kremlin narratives that portray Ukraine as a ‘terrorist regime’ and accuse the West of ‘supporting terrorist organizations’ in the Middle East.

Furthermore, these narratives blame civilian casualties in Russia, resulting from its invasion of Ukraine, on the West’s support for Ukraine’s self-defence. It’s important to remember that Russian disinformation has a history of attributing terrorist attacks in Russia and the targeting of religious communities to external forces.

This tactic aims to deflect responsibility from the Kremlin, obscure the inadequacies of Russian security services, and foster mistrust towards Western countries and Ukraine.

In the aftermath of the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack, the pro-Kremlin disinformation ecosystem has attempted to capitalize on the tragedy to foment anti-Ukrainian and anti-Western attitudes in Kazakhstan. They spread false claims that the ‘West had initiated a terrorist campaign‘ in Russia and Central Asia, aiming to manipulate public sentiment and shift any blame away from the Kremlin.

As usual, there is no credible evidence to support claims about ‘Western interference’ in the alleged plot in Kazakhstan or anywhere else. This narrative is a localized version of a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation fantasy suggesting a Western policy of staging ‘colour revolutions’ worldwide with the aim of ‘destabilizing Russia’. Narratives like this are another case of projection, as Russia’s destabilizing activities within Europe and elsewhere are well-documented facts.

Two American-made Ukrainian M2A2 Bradley under fire from the Russian Armed Forces in the Avdiivka area.

This is the rescue from a couple of weeks ago. Someone edited it down to the short video here. The disabled one took a lot of hits. The second one came in to rescue the crew. They also took hits. But they are a Bradley. Take hits and keep going.

Wanted to remind everyone of this guy. In 2022 he fired a missile that hit a medical clinic and killed the 3 pictured children. He needs to stand trial along with the literally thousands of other Russian war criminals

Good morning Resisters everywhere. Cool here in the Ozarks. 66⁰ this morning. So tired of 76⁰ and 86⁰
