Defense forces of Ukraine struck an enemy submarine and a S-400 anti-aircraft missile complex in the temporarily occupied Crimea - General Staff

Thus, according to information confirmed yesterday by units of the missile forces, in cooperation with units of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 4 launchers of the "Triumph" air defense system were significantly damaged.

Also, in the port of Sevastopol, the submarine of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation "Rostov-on-Don" was successfully attacked.
As a result of the impact, the boat sank on the spot.

For reference. Submarine B-237 "Rostov-on-Don" (according to NATO classification - Kilo class) is one of four submarines of the "Kilo" class, capable of using "Caliber" missiles.
"Rostov-on-Don" was commissioned on December 26, 2014.
On September 13, 2023, as a result of a Ukrainian missile attack, the ship was significantly damaged.
Later, it was repaired and tested in the water area of the Sevastopol harbor. The cost of the submarine is estimated at 300 million dollars.
The destruction of "Rostov-on-Don" once again proves that there is no safe place for the Russian fleet in the Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea .

We thank the Ukrainian soldiers for their professional work!

Germany Plans to Purchase Norwegian NOMAD Air Defense Systems for Ukraine

The German government is considering making the new Norwegian air defense system NOMADS available to the Ukrainian armed forces, reports Hartpunkt.

The Norwegian defense company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace announced the market launch of the National Maneuver Air Defense System (NOMADS) on June 18 at the Eurosatory trade fair in Paris. This is a highly mobile, rocket-based air defense system for protecting maneuver elements of the land forces near the front on a tracked chassis from the German company FFG.

According to Kongsberg, NOMADS was developed for the Norwegian army and consists of a SHORAD (Short Range Air Defense) module mounted on an armored vehicle with high off-road capabilities. This is the ACSV G5 from FFG in Flensburg. The company is supplying 50 vehicles of this type in different configurations to the Norwegian armed forces.

The SHORAD module integrates the most important command and control functions and applications of the NASAMS medium-range system and includes a passive search missile and an AESA radar, writes Kongsberg. The system is capable of detecting and intercepting drones, UAVs, cruise missiles, helicopters and aircraft. The Norwegian NOMADS vehicles will be equipped with the Iris-T SLS guided missile from Diehl.

According to reports, Norway's armed forces will receive six vehicles, four have already been delivered. The NOMADS system is tailor-made for the protection of mobile battle groups, transport routes, command centers and logistical facilities. In addition, the air defense capability with command and control (C2), radar with IFF and missiles are combined on a single platform. This enables autonomous air defense operations day and night.

The Dutch armed forces are the second user of NOMADS to express interest and apparently want to enter into the contract concluded with Norway. The Dutch need 18 vehicles, which will then be equipped with the AIM-9X missile.

In order to make NOMADS available to Ukraine, as Germany is considering, German components would have to be used if only Germany were to finance the project. However, if a country such as Sweden were to participate, the integration of a Saab radar would also be an option. The Danish company Weibel is currently supplying the radar for the Norwegian NOMADS. Diehl Defence would certainly also be an important partner in a Ukraine solution, as the company is the manufacturer of the Iris-T SLS guided missile.

🔫 Ukraine can produce more than 3 million drones a year, but funding is needed - Babel.

There is enough capacity for production. However, the state can cover only part of these needs — the rest is covered by foreign partners. In particular, Canada agreed to purchase part of Ukrainian-made drones for the Armed Forces. Negotiations are also being conducted with other countries.

⚖️ The occupiers pay bribes to "get out" of the army - massive criminal cases are opened in russia

👥 In the russian army, problems with personnel are worsening: the number of those willing to leave the service and avoid death in the war waged against Ukraine is increasing.

✔️ This is evidenced, in particular, by the sharp outbreak of registered criminal proceedings on the facts of bribery in the russian army.

👉 For example, in the southern military district of the russian Federation in 5 months of 2024, the number of open criminal cases for illegal dismissal from service due to health conditions and granting of illegal vacations tripled.

☑️ Almost half of such proceedings are investigated against the occupiers of the 8th Combined Arms Army. Another 36% belongs to the 58th combined army of the aggressor state, the commander of which was arrested in the spring of this year on suspicion of corruption.

❗️ More than a hundred proceedings opened against officials of the military units of the southern military district of the russian Federation relate to bribery for granting leave from the combat zone.

👉 Among them:

● 38 cases – concerning servicemen of the 102nd motorized rifle regiment (conducting combat operations in the Chasovoy Yar area);
● 35 cases – regarding the 71st Motorized Rifle Regiment (located on the border with the Sumy region);
● 33 cases – regarding the 49th brigade of the 49th army.

💰 As part of another 43 proceedings, the facts of receiving bribes for recognizing the occupiers as limited fit are being investigated.

‼️ GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine emphasizes: the level of corruption in the russian army has always been high, but earlier such cases of bribery were not paid attention to.

☝️ Fixation of the relevant episodes in the form of criminal cases may indicate the increasing level of demoralization of the personnel of the occupation forces and the threatening tendency for Moscow to escape from the Russian army by any means.

Ukrainian refugee sings "Oi u luzi chervona kalyna" (Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow) with Lithuanians in support for Ukraine

Ukrainian refugee Elizaveta sings together with 300 Lithuanians, who answered her call to gather in Vilnius and sing this viral Ukrainian folk song to draw attention to the ongoing war and struggles of Ukrainian people.

Eliza is a 21 year old Ukrainian singer. She had to flee her home country when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and has been living and studying in Lithuania since 2015. When Russia started the war on February 24th, her family’s home was destroyed by Russian occupants for the second time in their life. Eliza’s mother and brother stayed in Ukraine to defend their homeland. Eliza is safe in Lithuania, sending the message for her family and for her country to stay strong.

Following the 2014 annexation by Russia of the Ukrainian Crimean peninsula, and then the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, singing "nationalist anthems" such as Chervona Kalyna in Crimea is deemed to discredit the Russian army, and is punished by fines and imprisonment. In September 2022, Russian occupation authorities in Crimea jailed and fined members of a wedding party for "discrediting" the Russian Armed Forces by playing the song.

The singers of the song in an online video were imprisoned and fined.

Russia spreads fake news that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is transgender

The second photo shows Umar Kremlin, president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), next to Putin. It is the IBA that is spreading the misinformation that Khelif is biologically male. Gender reassignment is illegal in Algeria.

Umar Kremlinov posted on his channel that DNA tests "proved" that the athlete "had XY chromosomes, so she was excluded from the sports competitions" in 2023. Khelif was disqualified after she defeated Russian boxer Azalia Amineva.

However, the test results were never made public. At the same time, the IBA was stripped of its Olympic status due to corruption, so the charges against the athlete were automatically dropped.

The IOC never received specifics from the IBA about the tests that allegedly prove that Khelif is transgender. There is currently no clear evidence to show that the athlete has changed gender.

Khelif is not invincible: she has 9 defeats against female opponents.

Italian police cracks down on 'Catania Mafia clan' whose bosses gave orders from prison.

More than 100 Carabinieri police officers on Friday carried out a large-scale operation in Italy against suspects of involvement in the Catanian mafia and drug trafficking.

The operation was coordinated by investigators from Catania's anti-mafia directorate, DDA. It was the result of an 18-month investigation and aimed at destroying the local clan "Santapaola Ercolano", law enforcement sources said.

As a result of the actions of law enforcement officers, 13 people were arrested.

Investigators believe that generational conflict pitted young clan members against experienced bosses. Many of the authoritative bosses have been in prisons across Italy for years, but have nonetheless given orders over the phone to run the clan's business, investigative sources said. Therefore, they continued to give instructions on the management of the proceeds of illegal activities, in particular by communicating with "free members through phones that they illegally obtained and could keep in prison which proves the absolute accessibility of penitentiary institutions".

Among the bosses appearing in the investigation is Salvatore Battaglia, leader of the group based in the Villaggio district of Sant'Agata in Catania, together with his brother Santo. During the operation, police seized several weapons, ammunition, one kilogram of cocaine and six kilograms of hashish, the sources said.

RuZZia interrupted the broadcast on the children's TV channel Walt Disney in Europe with scenes of war

Russia began to regularly interfere in television broadcasting in European countries. It tries to interfere with satellite signals or intercept them, which has provoked disruptions in the broadcast and once even led to the placement of war scenes on a children's TV channel.

Problems are observed in different countries, from Ukraine to Portugal. Sweden, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France complained to the leadership of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Bloomberg reports, citing documents on the matter. According to a person familiar with the situation, Swedish satellites were subjected to electronic attacks from Moscow, Kaliningrad and Crimea. He also added that from mid-March to the end of May, serious failures were noted in the operation of at least three satellites of the French operator Eutelsat.

On two occasions, on March 28 and April 17, programs on Walt Disney's children's BabyTV channel were replaced by scenes of military operations in russian. In particular, on March 28, a video clip for a propaganda song by Oleg Gazmanov was shown with numerous scenes showing the 'brave modern russian army, shooting tanks, combat aircraft', as well as archival footage of the 'Great Patriotic War'.

Because of this interference, the Dutch cable operator Ziggo excluded BabyTV from its TV package until the beginning of May.

"It was clearly determined that the interference comes from large ground stations and therefore should be recorded and monitored by the authorities of the RF," the French National Frequency Agency said in a letter to the ITU.

Germany joins US-led UN Command in South Korea policing armistice border.

Germany joined the U.S.-led United Nations Command (UNC) in South Korea on Friday, becoming the 18th nation in a group that helps police the heavily fortified border with North Korea and has committed to defend the South in the event of a war.

The move is evidence of Berlin's strong belief that European security is closely linked to security in the Indo-Pacific region, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius told a ceremony at the main U.S. military headquarters in Pyeongtaek, south of Seoul.

"I'm convinced that especially in times like these, when the world is shaped by crises and wars, we need to show unity, we need to stand firm against those who want to undermine peace and stability, against those who attack our common order," he said.

It is the latest move by the United States and its partners to expand alliances and partnerships, including those that span the globe, and try to turn the 74-year-old command into a source of broader regional security.

Current UNC members, among them Australia, Britain, Turkey and the United States, sent troops or contributed medical support during the 1950-53 Korean War.

Established in 1950, the UNC was mandated to restore peace and enforce the armistice while serving as a channel of communication with North Korea.
It is led by the commander of the U.S. military stationed in South Korea and is not affiliated with the United Nations. Germany is the first country to join the command since Italy was reinstated in 2013.

German Citizens Still Imprisoned in Russia Despite Large-Scale Exchange

As of today, dozens of German citizens remain in Russian prisons, according to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), following a large-scale exchange between Belarus, Russia, and the West.

The number of Germans held in Russian prisons is described as a "small two-digit number," the MFA told the German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, without specifying the charges against these individuals.

Over the past two years, Russian authorities have refused direct consular access for citizens with dual Russian and German citizenship, including prison visits. The German Foreign Ministry stated, "Russian authorities treat individuals with dual citizenship exclusively as Russian citizens."

The ministry emphasizes that they make active efforts in each individual case to ensure consular access to German citizens.

"Can these persons hope to participate in future exchanges? It is absolutely unclear," states Der Tagesspiegel.

According to the UN, hundreds of people in Russia are imprisoned on false or politically motivated charges, with the number of such prisoners ranging from 700 to 1,372.
