The Washington Post: Ukraine Crosses Putin's "Red Lines" Again, and He Blinks

Kyiv's rapid invasion of the Kursk region in western Russia this month crossed what was once considered an unbreakable red line—a direct ground assault on Russia itself. However, Putin's reaction has been surprisingly passive and restrained, a notable departure from the strong rhetoric he used at the start of the war.

This has led some in the West to question Washington's approach to the conflict in Ukraine. Critics argue that the "slow and measured" delivery of arms to Kyiv, aimed at preventing an escalation with Russia, has instead hampered Ukraine's chances of defeating Russia and prolonged a devastating war of attrition.

Many analysts believe that U.S. military aid to Ukraine had the potential to be a powerful example of support, but it has remained overly cautious.

China opposes US sanctions against Chinese companies that help Russia in the war in Ukraine - Financial Post

Beijing has said it will take the necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of Chinese businesses.

China's Ministry of Commerce called Washington's actions "typical unilateral sanctions" that could disrupt the global trade order and affect the stability of industrial and logistics chains.

On Friday, the USA announced the introduction of sanctions against hundreds of companies in the Russian Federation, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. These companies are accused of supporting Russia's military actions and helping to circumvent sanctions. The US State Department expressed concern over the "scale of dual-purpose goods exports" from China to the Russian Federation.

🇧🇾 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, citing intelligence, calls on Belarus to withdraw troops and mercenaries from the Ukrainian border

We call on the officials of Belarus not to make tragic mistakes for their own country under the pressure of Moscow, and its armed forces to stop unfriendly actions and withdraw troops from the state border of Ukraine to a distance that exceeds the range of fire systems available in the Republic of Belarus.
We warn that in the event of a violation of the border, Ukraine will use all necessary measures for self-defense, and all troop concentrations, facilities and supply routes in Belarus will become legitimate targets for the Armed Forces, the statement reads.

A year ago, on August 25, 2023, a terrible plane crash occurred. Three Ukrainian pilots died at once: Vyacheslav Minka, Serhii Prokazin and Andriy Pilshchikov (call sign "Juice").

At Juice's farewell ceremony, Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk promised Andriy Pilshchikov's mother, Lilia Oleksandrivna, that she would at least sit in the cockpit of the F-16, the plane on which Andriy so dreamed of flying. And he kept his word.

Today his mother is in the cockpit of the F-16.

The oil fire keeps growing. I guess those priests from the Russian Orthodox Church were no help.

A number of countries around the world have expressed solidarity with Ukraine by illuminating administrative buildings and local landmarks in the colors of the blue and yellow flag in honor of Ukraine’s National Flag Day and Independence Day💙💛
