🌐 History of Ukraine🔱
🗺🇺🇦⚔️On October 25, 1921, the Second Winter Campaign of the UNR army units began, the idea of which was to unite the peasant protest movement and raise a general anti-Bolshevik uprising in order to restore statehood.
The insurgent army was divided into three groups: Volyn, led by General-Coroner Yuriy Tyutiunnyk, consisting of 879 people, Podolsk, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mykhailo Palyi (later Colonel Serhiy Chornyi) consisting of 374 people, and Bessarabian, led by General-Coroner Andriy Huly-Hulenko, numbering about 300 people. The latter, having the Tiraspol-Odessa area of operations, had to perform a distracting function. The Podolsk group, drawing some of the enemy's attention to itself, was later to join the main Volyn group, which would head to Kyiv through Volyn.
The Bessarabian group was late in its advance and, immediately after crossing the border, was met by Red Army units and was forced to turn back and did not fulfill the functions assigned to it. The first of the Podolsk group to cross the Polish-Soviet border on the night of October 25 was a reconnaissance detachment under the command of Pavlo Sumorkiv near the village of Golenishcheve (now Chemerovets district of Khmelnytskyi region). The main forces of Mykhailo Palii entered the territory of the Ukrainian SSR near the village of Bondarivka at about 2 a.m. on October 26. After several successful battles, the group, however, was unable to connect with the Volyn group and returned to Poland with battles.
The Volyn shock group crossed the border on November 4 near the villages of Borove and Netreby. After the short-term capture of Korosten, the group began to be pursued by the 9th Cavalry Division of Grigory Kotovsky. On November 17, in the battle near Maly Mynki, the group was defeated, and on November 22-23, 360 captured fighters of the Volyn group were shot near the village of Bazar.
The leader of the campaign, Yuriy Tyutyunnyk, together with a small detachment, managed to break away from the pursuit and cross the Polish border. He continued to cherish hopes for the liberation of Ukraine and hatched plans to resume the insurgent struggle. In June 1923, as a result of an operation by the State Political Directorate, Tyutyunnyk, who had been lured to the territory of the Ukrainian SSR to lead the uprising, was arrested. After repentance, he was released, using his confession to discredit the Ukrainian national movement, and in February 1929 he was arrested and executed in October 1930 on charges of "counter-revolutionary activities". .
The Second Winter Campaign of the UNR Army units was the last heroic attempt of the Ukrainian national-state forces to gain the independence of Ukraine by open military means during the national liberation struggle of 1917-1921. Ten years after these events, in the Ukrainian territories occupied by the russian-Bolshevik regime, Moscow organized the genocide of Ukrainians with the Holodomor🙏
