On 30 October 2001 Ukraine eliminated its last nuclear delivery vehicle.

Their reward was being invaded by russia, having cities bombed into dust while the West expresses "serious concerns" and rants about "escalation management."

Ukraine gave up its Soviet nuclear arsenal, then the 3rd biggest in the world, in exchange for Security Guarantees from the US, UK and russia.

Back then, people applauded the move. Today we can safely say it was a grave mistake.

Just 20 years after Ukraine signed the 1994 Budapest Memorandum and gave up its nuclear weapons, russia invaded Ukraine's Crimea and Donbas regions in 2014.

And no one dared to interfere "because russia has nukes."

Now, letting russia do as they please "because of nukes" sends only one message to the world. Ukraine and many other states in the world need to seek out nuclear weapons again. Because the "security assurances" from the West were proven to mean nothing.
