Landing in Crimea: russian court sentences captured GUR officer to 20 years

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, russia, sentenced Oleksandr Lyubas, an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, to 20 years in prison.

The court claims that in October 2023, Lyubas, along with other GUR fighters, "crossed the russian state border on jet skis and a boat to land on the coast of the Black Sea region of Crimea." Lyubas was also accused of "attacking russian servicemen." The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the russian court's decision.

On October 4, 2023, the GUR reported that its units "landed on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula and inflicted a fiery defeat on the Moscow occupiers." Later, the head of the GUR, Kyrylo Budanov, confirmed that one of the department's special forces was captured during the landing.

Budanov also confirmed that the fighter captured by the russians was named Oleksandr Lyubas, a video of whom was then shown on some russian Telegram channels.

CONTINUES (2/2)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has been pushing allies to ramp up supplies and lift restrictions on deep strikes into Russian territory.

His government has argued that such attacks are necessary to hit airfields and launchers used for assaults on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Last month’s surprise incursion into Russia’s Kursk region has so far failed to blunt a grinding advance from Moscow.

Ballistic missile transfers to Russia would likely be met with additional sanctions on Iran, though their effectiveness would be uncertain given the raft of measures already targeting Tehran, including on drone supplies to Moscow.

Among previous measures discussed by allies are fresh restrictions on Iran Air.

Group of Seven nations are also expected to publicly condemn any transfer promptly and to press their concerns with governments in the Middle East through diplomatic channels, the people said.

The G-7 has already imposed sanctions on Iran and North Korea for supplying Russia with weapons. The group has been looking to ramp up restrictions on firms in China and elsewhere that provide Russia with parts and technologies needed by Moscow to manufacture weapons — or for components found in them. More recent restrictions have targeted companies and individuals enabling such transactions.

A military transport of the "nuclear" department of the Russian Ministry of Defense has been spotted in Crimea , writes Krym.Realii.

Such vehicles of the 12th Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation were noticed, in particular, on the roads of Kerch and the Kerch Peninsula.

According to the list of digital codes on the registration plates of vehicles of the Russian Armed Forces, vehicles of the 12th Directorate are designated by code 39.

The Twelfth Main Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry is responsible for the storage, operation, and maintenance of nuclear weapons. It also includes the Special Control Service, which monitors nuclear tests in other countries.

⛓🔥 The European Union urged Mongolia to arrest Putin because of the ICC warrant.

"There is a warrant for Putin's arrest, issued by the International Criminal Court for the illegal deportation and transfer of thousands of Ukrainian children from the so-called regions of Ukraine to Russia. Mongolia has been a state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court since 2002 with all the legal obligations arising from it." ,
- said the spokeswoman of the European Commission Massrali.

She added that Mongolia should independently decide how to bring the Russian dictator to court in case of detention.

This is getting interesting. The growers filed suit last week and this looks like the state's hit back.
