The perpetrator who drove into a crowd, killing at least 10 people, has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsuddin Jabbar, according to NBC News. The FBI stated he is deceased, though the cause of death remains unclear. Footage shows his body lying next to the vehicle, bleeding.
The FBI has classified the incident as a terrorist attack and is investigating Jabbar’s ties to terrorist organizations. It was earlier reported that he was carrying explosives, including a suicide belt and other explosive devices. Several media outlets also reported that an ISIS flag was found on his car.

Operational information as of 22:00 12/31/2024 regarding the Russian invasion
There have been 188 combat clashes so far. The hottest situation today is in the Pokrovsky direction, the enemy is also active in the Lymansky, Kramatorsk and Kurakhiv directions.
Today, the enemy has launched five missile strikes (25 missiles) on the territory of Ukraine, eight air strikes (in particular, 14 KABs were used), and used 376 kamikaze drones to destroy them. It has carried out over 2,500 attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attacked once near Vovchansk.
In the Kupyansky direction, the enemy tried to advance to our positions near Lozova, Novaya Kruglyakivka and Zagryzovoe seven times during the day. All enemy attacks were stopped by the Defense Forces.
In the Lymansky direction, the enemy attacked 18 times in the areas of Nadiya, Pershotravneve, Zeleny Gay, Novoyehorivka, Yampolivka, Terni, Dibrova and in the areas of Druzhelyubyvka, Cherneschyna, Novosergiivka. Our soldiers repelled the attacks of the invaders.
In the Siversky direction, the invaders tried to advance eight times in the area of Bilogorivka and Hryhorivka, but were repulsed. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, enemy activity since the beginning of the day amounted to 31 battles. Assault actions took place near the settlements of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Bila Gora and Predtechyne. Four battles have not yet ended.
In the Toretsk direction, our troops repelled 12 enemy attacks near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. One battle is ongoing.
Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has tried to penetrate our defenses 56 times in the Pokrovsky direction in the areas of the settlements of Zelene Pole, Baranivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnograd, Kotlyne, Solone, Shevchenko, Novooleksandrivka, Dachenske, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Vovkove, Pishchane and Novovasylivka. Six clashes are still ongoing.
The enemy is suffering significant losses - according to preliminary information, today our soldiers neutralized 208 occupiers in this direction, 94 of them - irretrievably. Four units of automotive equipment, two UAV control antennas were destroyed, in addition, one armored combat vehicle and one mortar were damaged.
In the Kurakhiv direction, the enemy attacked our positions 20 times. The most active areas were the settlements of Petropavlivka, Dachne, Ukrainka, Shevchenko and Kurakhove, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 attacks, two clashes are ongoing.
In the Vremiv direction, our troops repelled 11 enemy attacks near Konstantinopolske, Dachne, Rozlyv, Velyka Novoselka and Neskuchne. The enemy dropped a KAB on Zelenye Pole.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy tried to advance towards Novoandreyevka three times, but was repulsed.
In the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy continues to try to knock our units out of the occupied positions, where three unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian soldiers were carried out during the day.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 offensive actions of the invaders. Russian aviation struck three times, using three guided aerial bombs on the territory of the Russian Federation. The enemy also carried out 298 attacks.

Dragmarks found on Baltic sea floor near broken cables

Finnish police said on Sunday they had found tracks that drag on for dozens of kilometres along the bottom of the Baltic Sea where a tanker carrying Russian oil is suspected of breaking a power line and four telecoms cables with its anchor.
The Cook Islands-registered Eagle S was boarded by Finnish police and coast guard officials on Thursday and sailed into Finnish waters where the crew of the impounded tanker is being questioned
A break in the 658 megawatt (MW) Estlink 2 power cable between Finland and Estonia occurred at midday on Wednesday, leaving only the 358 MW Estlink 1 linking the two countries, grid operators said. They said Estlink 2 might not be back in service before August.
Finnish police suspect the Eagle S caused the damage by dragging its anchor along the seabed.
Investigators have identified a "dragging track" but have yet to find a missing anchor, Sami Paila, tactical leader and detective chief inspector of Finland's National Bureau of Investigation, said in a statement.
"The track is dozens of kilometres in length," Paila said.

Finland's customs service believes the ship is part of a "shadow fleet" of ageing tankers being used to evade sanctions on exports of Russian oil.
The Kremlin said on Friday that Finland's seizure of the ship was of little concern to it.
Russia has denied involvement in any of the previous Baltic infrastructure damage incidents.

NATO warns of the risk of unconventional attacks by Russia with "significant" losses.
"We are in a situation similar to a boiling frog," said NATO spokesman James Appathurai, adding that Russia's hybrid attacks are reaching a scale that would have been unacceptable even five years ago.
There had been a particular rise in more "kinetic" acts - like cutting vital undersea cables, sabotage against buildings and the planting of incendiary devices inside aircraft cargo - since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
"We can definitely count dozens, up to 100 for sure, but then there's a lot of foiled plots," Mr Appathurai, NATO's deputy assistant secretary general for innovation, hybrid and cyber, said in an interview at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
Appathurai notes that the increase in the number of hybrid attacks is the Kremlin's response to the military support of Ukraine by Western partners.
"That part is true. So they don't like what we're doing, but they also see us as the enemy. And it's getting worse," he said.
Asked whether Russia's hybrid attack could cross the line and provoke NATO to use its collective response under Article 5, Appathurai said he was concerned that one of the attacks would "go beyond the scope and become large-scale."
"So there is a real prospect that one of these attacks will cause significant casualties or very significant economic damage," Appathurai said.
