The Clooney Foundation for Justice will organize a "hunt" for Russian propagandists, aiming to hold them accountable for their role in Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.

"We are focused on bringing to justice the most famous Russian propagandists, the most visible, but I will not name them on purpose, because we will ask the prosecutors to issue the appropriate orders," said Anna Neistat, human rights activist and project officer of the Foundation.

Neistat noted that many propagandists like to travel in Europe, have residence permits, and own property in various countries. These individuals can be arrested in Europol member states based on warrants for crimes related to incitement to hatred and the promotion of aggressive war.

The Clooney Foundation for Justice, founded by human rights activist Amal Clooney and her husband, actor George Clooney, is one of the international organizations investigating the role of Russian propaganda in Russia's war against Ukraine.

Good to see this support for Ukraine from such a powerful couple.

Earlier, a video surfaced online showing a Ukrainian MaxxPro speeding through Chasiv Yar despite intense Russian fire, as it carried out a combat mission

The footage was captured by fighters from the strike group "Black Swan." Behind the wheel was "Mikhaylich" with navigator "Kesha," heading to positions to deliver supplies to wounded soldiers and provide ammunition to the unit's combat teams, who are heroically holding the toughest sections of the front line. No need for further words...

Mikhaylich, Kesha, and everyone defending Chasiv Yar right now - you are incredible!

Western countries continue efforts to increase artillery production and procurement for Ukraine - ISW

The Financial Times (FT) reported on May 30 that the Czech-led initiative to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine is struggling to compete with Russia to purchase ammunition from non-NATO countries.

Czech Governmental Envoy for Ukraine's Reconstruction Tomas Kopecny stated that some unspecified countries are supplying ammunition to both Russia and Western procurement efforts for Ukraine.

Kopecny suggested that Russia can make cash pre-payments to ammunition suppliers faster than the West and that this could allow Russia to purchase millions of rounds from the same suppliers.

The owner and chairperson of Czech domestic arms producer Czechoslovak Group (CSG), Michal Strnad, stated that about half of the components CSG acquired from countries in Africa and Asia for the Czech-led initiative required more work before CSG could send it to Ukraine and that some of the shells had missing components.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala stated on May 28 that the first "tens of thousands" of 155mm artillery ammunition sourced through the Czech-led initiative will arrive in Ukraine within "days."

The New York Times (NYT) reported on May 30 that US defense company General Dynamics will open a new facility in Mesquite, Texas that will make 30,000 artillery shells each month once it reaches full capacity.

The NYT reported that US production facilities in Pennsylvania produce about 35,00 artillery shells per month and that IMT, an Ohio-based defense firm, will reportedly produce about 34,000 artillery shells per month. The NYT noted that this would allow the US to reach the US Department of Defense’s (DoD) production target of 100,000 shells per month by the end of 2025.

This dog was found in Liman guarding the ruins of his house.

A photo of a dog sitting on the ruins of his house in the Donetsk region was published by the Ukrainian military.

“He was left alone, after the next shelling he did not leave his house - he was guarding the ruins,” according to the 4th separate tank brigade.

He’s also quite rightly a little resentful that the
US left him out in the winter, facing losses in men and territory because of Trump - and the prospect of him returning must fill him with dread.
The concern now has to be that China could tip the balance of equipment to Russia. China seems to be willing to show its hand - both undermining Taiwan and Ukraine just as America goes into election overdrive heading towards November 5th.
Ukraine has near unequivocal European support- and even then European Parliament elections are unlikely to dim that sentiment too much. Navigating the rest of the world is another matter. Everyone knows who Zelensky is and what he wants and some are a little bit tired of the message. Sadly that’s human nature. And the slow pace of the war has made many lose interest. That only aids Russia. And that’s why we mustn’t forget and we must go on and fight however we can, to make sure this battle for Europe and our way of life isn’t forgotten. Ukraine fights for us all. Tell everyone.

From "The Analyst":

KHARKIV UPDATES

Still the most active area, the Russians made a dismal attempt to cross the river to the west of their slim holdings in the centre of town.
The area they need to capture if they are to make anymore progress, is a heavily fortified semi-industrial area on a rise. Capturing that would give them domination over the Ukrainian defence lines and allow them to outflank the defenders north of the river in the main hi-rise industrial area.
Part of the Russians problem here is that they hold only a narrow band of land in the centre north of the river and it gave them little space to build up any troops without being seen.
Because the Ukrainians dominate the observation of the area from their higher positions they were able to see the small groups that tried to cross the river at night. Heavy machinery is impossible here so it’s all about infantry infiltrators.
Daytime arrives and the spotted Russians hiding under the bridges they destroyed (and blocked their own ability to bring in supporting equipment), are quickly reduced to drone victims.
Despite continuous attempts to cross during Saturday they fail miserably.
The situation is then made worse for them because the Ukrainian forces in the fortified northern industrial zone, that borders the slim Russian held territory in the town where the attacks originated, begin to counter attack it. Some hundred plus Russians died trying to cross the river and intense fighting - where the Ukrainians have the advantage in manpower for once at roughly 2.2:1
began and continues.
The Russians of course this whole tine, have been using thermobaric weapons and endless glide bombs.
The Ukrainians have developed new techniques for advancing and minimising their casualties too, taking a more progressive and systematic approach of advance and reconnaissance even in localised combat areas. This methodical and effective support from the platoon members seems to be a mix of NATO training and what they have learned themselves.

SHANGRI LA

President Zelensky made a surprise stop in Singapore at the Shangri La (it’s an Asian hotel chain where it takes place) Security Conference where after meeting SecDef Austin he went on to make a speech. The gist of that was something we shouldn’t be surprised at: China.
He accused the Chinese of sending weapons not just passive military dual use items. He accused them of breaking any pretence at being neutral in this. He laid it on quite thickly too, that Russian and China were actively trying to stop countries attending the Peace Conference in
Switzerland.
The weapons supply issue was also confirmed by UK intelligence last week and tacitly backed by US comments.
Over the past week it’s also become apparent how many N.Korean ballistic missiles the Russians have been using. What’s even more concerning is the quantity of western and even American made components in them, showing that the trade is still alive and kicking despite years of sanctions.
As another commentator added, the Russians don’t seem to have any trouble using externally supplied equipment on Ukraine, why should Ukraine have to be restrained from using foreign supplied equipment on Russia?
President Zelensky seems to have changed his approach a little. He knows that he’s not the heroic lauded figure who was feted by every parliament at the start of the war. He knows that the spat last year over not being invited immediately into NATO did him a disservice and he overplayed his personal hand. Yet he did gain from it a swathe of bilateral security guarantees and industrial cooperation deals from every meaningful country in Europe except Slovakia and Hungary.
His tone now is one of frustration and it seems anger, tempered by diplomatic niceties. The frustration over the firing permissions really seems to have gotten to him - and I get that, because it’s illogical and ridiculous in the circumstances as Kharkiv proved.
Overall I think he thinks this war can be won and he’s got the men and the women of experience to do it - if only he had the equipment. CONTINUES.
