8. How was this the best year of my life?

2022 was a rough year for many reasons but if you're reading this that means you got through it.

By asking this question you focus your mind on gratitude and place yourself in the best position to make the most of 2023.

7. What do I want to focus on next year?

365 days is a lot of time, but it can go by so fast if you don't focus your time, energy, and attention on the stuff that matters to you.

This means choosing beforehand what you will say yes and no to.

6. How did I help?

Did I donate to support Ukraine?
Was I instrumental in helping a colleague?
Or was I there for friend going through a rough time?

Helping others, no matter how small the act may seem can make all the difference.

Ask yourself.
How did I help this year?

5. Which goals did I not reach?

By listing the goals we didn't reach we can start to unpack the reasons for not reaching them.

In doing so, we place ourselves in a better position to reach them the next time or realize we should be focussing on other goals instead.

4. Who were the MVPs & LVPs?

MVP: Most Valuable Player
LVP: Least Valuable Player

Partners, friends, and family can be MVPs or LVPs.

Take a second to look back at who were there for you and who left you hanging.

You now know who you should spend more time with next year.

3. What surprised me?

No one could've predicted everything that happened this year globally or personally.

Take a moment to look back and think about how your responded to the surprises in your life.

Were you slow to act?
Did you react accordingly?

2. What am I most proud of?

Published a paper? Wrote your thesis? Ran a marathon?
Or just kept showing up despite all the setbacks that came with 2022?

Relish those moments and be proud of all you've accomplished!

Show thread

1. What have I learned this year?

Learning is a continuous process.

If you don't take time to reflect on what you've learned then you will forget it and keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
