I'm super interested in the trajectory of how I'll build followers here. I could just do science, but that's not me. I'm really passionate about it, but I'm way too interested in many other things. I wonder if that will work against me here, whereas it worked for me on the birb. :blobcatthinking:

@War_Kittens Ideally you'd want followers who are actually interested in what you have to say, no? So just post about stuff that actually interests you?

Additionally, followers are less a necessity on here than on Twitter. Everybody has equal exposure to the public timelines. Interaction's always possible. We're not obscured by any algorithms here.

@War_Kittens I would also recommend just being yourself. This place is (up to now) much more friendly than other’s. Maybe because admins care about their user base? I’m very interested in how this “community run infrastructure” concept will work out.

@mab
My main concern is how my local timeline is going to react to non-science related posts.

@War_Kittens @mab We don't really care... as long as it's not spammy. Even scientists have non-science related hobbies.

@War_Kittens All other fascinating things revolve around science.

@szescstopni
True, but I have science, geopolitics, fandom, and Gen X shitposts. Those are all very different. I mean I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna do what I did on the birb.

@War_Kittens I think it’d work all good here :) there’s so many people with multiple interests over all of the servers

@War_Kittens I'm deciding how long I can keep away from just reverting to shitposting
