@cleanairstars I have not. (I passed on material to brother who ignored it.) Maybe Rob Wissman tested a HEPA filter once upon a time, but you're about the only link to information since I left Twitter. I'd be curious about MERV-14 as well. Indian fellow I believe (forget name) had posted a study of California school(?) comparing, but may have been in-duct filter. The Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM has a much higher static pressure by comparison.

@cleanairstars Of the recommended portable air cleaners, do any allow for reputable off-brand filters? Isn't the device's HEPA rating determined by the entire device assembly? I'm cynically reminded of printers and (lifetime) ink cost in this regard and curious how manufacturer lock-in affects long-term cost comparisons at scale, (such as a school with multiple units per classroom).

@cleanairstars @CathNoakes I'd also note standard filters vary from nominal dimensions across manufacturers. Ideally, a 'fixture' would facilitate easy drop-in replacement (e.g. no taping) of standard sized, manufacturer-agnostic filters while ensuring adequate seal (fit). This allows for competitive bids on filter supply and lowers overall maintenance cost.

@cleanairstars Regarding use of multiple air cleaners: a single Noctua NF-A14 5V fan paired with proportionally sized HEPA or MERV-13 filter, should be able to provide ASHRAE's recommended EOAi (for a single person.) A multiple of these, naturally dispersed when powered by [student] phones/laptops facilitates quieter (24.6 dBA), homogeneous air mixing. A 12V power distribution network at ceiling for similar suspended or mounted (fixed) 140mm fan air cleaners follows same principles.

@servelan I do not know how to win the argument that participation on X is both a poor strategy to combat the fascistic threat of Trump and the "Musk-MAGA alliance" (Greg Sargent), and an indictment of personal character. I find parallels to 'Team Normal', the Miles Taylors of Trump administration- rank & file grumblings from people who understand the danger, but continue a "symbiotic" relationship (Micheal Luttig) with Musk for self-serving reasons, normalizing essentially malevolent characters.
Maybe Medhi can.

I believe, perhaps naively, that air cleaners designed to be more aesthetically pleasing/integrative to spaces- visually noticeable and attractive- can aid in a literal sense. If 12V PC fans are indeed an efficient method of improving IAQ, they are compelling for use in varied designs (varied like lighting, or desktop PC cases). Standard filter form factors impact & limit design, as they are intended to be hidden (in rectangular ducts) with high flow centrifugal fans. Canister filters proportioned for and securable to 140mm fans could also serve as unitary design elements for modular devices.

@mattsheffield What would you say it revealed about Alberta? I've read a number of his pieces only in these trumpian years (as with other 'Never Trumpers').

@mattsheffield Is that any way to talk about the guy who saved the talent at CNN?

@dr2chase which model did you use? NF-P14 Redux $17 (black) vs Arctic P14 PST $41/5 (blue) (.3 Sone = 22.4 dBa)

@mattsheffield The glut of the world's most notable and influential people (and their followers) will tolerate his fascism as long as they don't have to pay.

@cleanairstars 🤷‍♂️ That's what control display read outside my gym sauna. Will try to get actual ambient air temp measurement.

"If a commercialized cleaner using PC fans similar to the aluminum fabricated PC fan CR box existed, it would provide an ideal solution for commercial spaces."

I continue to believe a 'tower defense' strategy of multiple, smaller, suspended & floor PC fan filter units throughout a space is a compelling solution.
