@futurebird That's what's up. I see a lot of people I respect over there still posting like nothing's happened, and it's really disappointing. Although I know a lot of folks have a lot riding on the reach they've built there, and I do not, so it's easy for me to criticize. But it's awesome to hear you've found success here.

I'm starting to think twitter was... limiting if anything. I know most of ya'll don't care about follower counts, which is refreshing, tbh.

But, I think this little factoid is best used to reassure those who don't leave because they don't think they'll ever have the same amount of fun. And those like various creators who feel being connected is part of their job.

Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !

Still not talking about Black History. Still talking about white US History.

The US *loves* soldiers and veterans! Virtuous! Service! 🇺🇲🦅

The US *hates* homeless people. Lazy! Dirty! Want a handout!

But... ~1 in every 20 US homeless folk is a Black or hispanic veteran. 🤷🏿‍♂️

In the USA, the phrase "support our troops!" is a euphemism that does mean military jingoism, but doesn't mean supporting all of our troops.

“Is there nothing anybody would say that would cause you to cease your association with them? If so, then what you are is not a proponent of free speech, but lazy amorality.“
This piece is so good.

Nonsense Twitter race baiting

That friend? Abraham Lincoln.

@lostlifefound@mstdn.social it's a very different experience. The lack of algorithm means that there's much less of a main character effect here, which is one of the draws of Twitter. Also, I think people with 5k+followers get a lot more juice over there. It is really disappointing to see people give their content to that ogre over there.

There's a loose consensus that the plaintiffs botched their oral arguments today in the pivotal Gonzalez vs. Google case. One of the reasons why surprised me — though it shouldn't have!

@peatbog An HVAC person is probably a better bet than a plumber

Imagine thinking the most troubling thing about these conversational AIs is wokeness.

@peatbog @ryanhoulihan an heat recovery ventilator (HRV) or energy recovery ventilator (ERV) is what you're looking for! You can hook them up to your duct work with your existing furnace / air handler, or some people run independent ducts for them. If there's a particular room you spend hours in (like an office) you can also install a point-source HRV/ERV for just that room, which might be cheaper.

I loved SimCity and Civilization, and this is pretty much the goal in both.

I used to assume, without much critical thought, that it was natural, and even good, for humans to utilize every inch of the earth.

Do you ever think about the fact that you're thinking means you weren't Thanos snapped out of existence, or hit by a meteor, or assassinated a moment earlier? Or that the Earth wasn't hit by a giant piece of space debris traveling at relativistic speed? Just me?

@ryanhoulihan with our renovation, we're getting an HRV installed. It's basically an open window, but with a heat exchanger to conserve the heat/AC you've put into your indoor air.

@ComposerJ I'm overdue for a return visit. It's been almost 15 years!

@ComposerJ I was hoping to get more recommendations!

Btw, I clicked through and saw you're a UK alum. I lived in Lexington several times in my 20s!
