@catsalad An eargasm

@VeroniqueB99 Great, now the DND joke about the mimic in the tavern is real at home (at least for people that buy that crap)

@jeffcliff I just noticed you essentially ignored a part of the covid transmission risks in the thing about blm.

Rallying to protest might have transmission risks, staying alone has a much worse risk: incarceration. That's indoors and prisons are notorious virus redistribution centers.

So for a realistic view, one needs to consider any pushback against unnecessary incarceration as a reduction of transmission risk. Shutting up and taking it is making mass incarceration easier and long-term motivates those responsible to continue - it's an industry!

@the_etrain I heard the US needed german deliveries to perform executions (regarding death sentences via injections), now this about torturing via a german-based delivery service.

Can the US do any evil without german support?

@jeffcliff You're comparing people in wildly different circumstances, i don't see what that should say except that the circumstances leading to that were there.

Like if i purree the pears and don't purree the apples, ofc the apples are firm and the pears are a mush. Doesn't say anything about apples vs. pears, just about what i did.

@jeffcliff Calming people is not the purpose of the police, at least in many countries.
You can see this by the responsibility to deal with mentally disturbed people falling to the police, not medical emergency personnel, which would be more qualified.

We had a case here, where someone with a knife was shot. Would probably have lived and not stabbed anyone if people qualified to help the crazy were called.

@catsalad Reminds me of Windows 8. There was some absurd combination of keys (that i hit by accident) which makes strange useless menus slide in from all directions.
A friend had a good laugh when i triggered that and struggled to get it to stop.

@OpenComputeDesign So the list of your sins contains "taller than the car industry wants their customers to be".

@ruemaleficent In recent months i started asking myself if saving humanity from itself would be ethical, if one had the ability. Not only because of fash, also considering urgent normal syndrome regarding covid, a general apathy to actually solve problems. Who am i to say most people choose wrong?

@ruemaleficent It's a friendly banter to stay aware.

Needed a lot, since the current regime is pretty close to fascism again.

@ruemaleficent Oh, i overlooked the "by whom".

For my personal experience, it's us germans (the ones that do not want another nazi regime) jokingly calling each other potatoe.

@ruemaleficent I think because it's a staple food. Wonderful things can be created from potatoes, but they just don't have the "fine cuisine" connotation.

It carries a bit of a connection of being a square, and regarding our history i think one should be aware that not standing up to conservatives turning fascist is dangerous.

Definitely not alike to "cracker", as i heard that was a symmetrical counterslur and cannot be benign, right?

@ruemaleficent Oh, i wouldn't call it a slur. You'd have to use a pretty hostile tone of voice for that, or it would take a pretty uptight approach to be mad about being called a potato.

@hochbahn

@posiputt

@PhoenixSerenity Hmm, i'd say there are bad things people do (ableism, classism etc.) and motivations why they do it (projection, being trained to do them by parents, society).

I try to seperate those in order to place responsibility at the feet of the correct party, in this case the people that judge and those that trained them to. This is supposed to keep away victim blaming, since naming the bad action does not explicitly say that the victim did nothing to provoke this.

So yes, ableism, but i find the view with projection more powerful to rebuff the judgement nobody asked for.

@daswarkeinhuhn Auch in anderen Arbeitskontexten bekanntes Problem. Ich fühle mit dir, hatte bei einem anderen Job mal komplett aufgehört, Emails zu lesen wenn mich nicht jemand direkt darauf hinweist, dass da was ist.
