"A Bloomberg Green analysis of more than 215,000 offset transactions in public datasets over the past decade reveals for the first time that dozens of global brands ... [Credit Suisse. Airlines, online retailers, industrial firms and energy producers] now rely heavily on the cheapest and most suspect type of offset — those tied to renewable-energy projects."

Interesting cache bug in the Mastodon app: @Gargron The left image is not the image of this screenshot’ed toot, but when clicked it opens the proper image. Closing it goes back to the wrong one. That “wrong” image is the last one I uploaded in a toot of mine, but note I did so from the website, not the app.

IMHO the most complete and remarkable site for #womeninscience #womeninSTEM. 1432 portraits !

An extraordinary source of information. Only in spanish but very easy to browse and understand with an online translator (such as DeepL translate)

Hi! 👋
It's time for an #introduction here on #neuroscience mastodon.
I'm Hannah Haberkern and I study flies to learn more about how animals navigate. I'm especially interested in visual orientation and the role of plasticity in #navigation. Currently I'm a postdoc at HHMI Janelia in Vivek Jayaraman's lab.

I'll take this new start as an opportunity to start sharing a bit more #pigeon and #quilting content. Here's me with a semi-recent quilt finish, a quilt that's in progress, and my Boab.

"Historically, with the study of the most convenient animal models —from the giant axon of the squid and the lobster's stomatogastric circuits to Aplysia's synapses and C. elegans' circuits — neuroscientists revealed some of the operating principles of the nervous system, which were then found to apply broadly across phyla. The third instalment of this meeting will once again bring together neuroscientists working on a broad diversity of animal models in an effort to compare circuits across phyla as a means to crack their function."

#introduction

I think about how a collective of agents (animals, neurons, mathematical structures) can solve problems. Additionally, I am interested in what it means to produce a good model and understanding of something.

I am excited to be here to learn and discuss.

Hello world, it's time to do an ! I'm a neuroscientist (postdoc) currently based in Göttingen, Germany. I have broad interests in , including sensory coding, neural circuits, and sensorimotor transformations.

So far, I studied how the retina processes natural scenes using a combination of large-scale electrophysiology and computational modeling.

I'll be soon leaving the tidy entryway to the visual system to venture into understanding cortical processing during decision-making.

Just received another offer to sell @glossa to an unnamed 'publisher' from Singapore. Again made it clear that the journal cannot be sold, as stipulated in its Governance by-rules glossa-journal.org/site/govern Very important for #DiamondOpenAccess journals to make themselves impregnable to this sort of 'invitation'.

Mostly in order to practice the Mastodon interface, I'm going to reproduce one of my posts from the now-defunct Google+ service (on probability paradoxes, first posted Sep 11, 2014) as a thread here. 🧵

Deadline to apply for the HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program is 12/7/2022 hhmi.org/programs/hanna-h-gray
Please apply - this is a great program!

Hi it's me - hoping all of my great tweeps are here somewhere

We have an exceptional opportunity at our center for a new group leader at VIB in Leuven. We are looking for a new colleague who wants to use computational methods to investigate molecular and/or cellular aspects of neurobiology. This position not only comes with substantial and renewable core funding and start-up package, but it is also linked to a tenure track position at KU Leuven.

More information on our center can be found on our website cbd.sites.vib.be/en.
