Many people are understandably worried about Trump in next year’s election. The White House will be decided by voters in these six states. Of the 12 senate seats from those states, 11 were won by Democrats. We will defeat Trump, again.

@georgetakei So what I'm hearing is that if I am not in one of these six states, I can safely vote third party to register my disgust with both major party candidates and I will have no effect on the outcome to the election.

@antares @georgetakei

Unfortunately, he is right, the elections in the US is determined by those six states, add to that mail-in ballots, and your vote is meaningless.

@antares @georgetakei For president, pretty much yes. check in on electoral-vote.com to make sure your state is still in the "swing" category. (I'd maybe include North Carolina and make it 7 at this point?)

But if you live in California or Wyoming vote for whomever makes you happy. For president.

@ech @georgetakei

California has a so-called "Top Two" primary so you really can vote for whoever you like in March then one only two in November - in statewide offices that is frequently a moderate democrat vs a progressive. Not as good as Single Transferable Vote, but way better than First Past the Post.
