How does the air pressure change while riding an elevator? Assuming the elevator is not pressurized.

  • higher elevation means lower pressure

  • as the elevator descends, pressure increases within the elevator shaft below and decreases above

  • as the elevator descends, the air inside the elevator experiences less gravity (due to the equivalence principle) so the pressure near the bottom decreases and the pressure at the ceiling increases

  • and visa versa…
