What are some standards by #rucking?
Standards are defined as the bare minimum measurement before being considered sufficient in the area.
There are a couple of standards:
- 15 min per mile or 9 min per kilometer
- 12 miles in less than 3.5 hours or can be extended to 20 km, high achiever achieve the distance in less than 3 hours
- marathon in less than 10 h
- 50 km in 12 h
- 50 miles in 20 h
- 100 km in 24 h

What are examples of weight?
The simples weight that most have readily available are water bottles. They have two downsides: first they take up a lot of volume and second if using larger containers the swaying of the liquid will add an additional strain.
The traditional option is either rocks or bricks. One brick usually weighs 5#, so one can quickly get the desired weight. Additionally it is advised to duct tape them together to get one congruent unit.
Another option is to use a sandbag. The benefit is that if it ever is too much you can always empty it out. The downside towards the higher weights is that it takes up quite much volume, thus it is usually carried on top of the ruck.
The current standard is to use steel plates. These are low in volume, though can be costly buying them.
Beyond that if one has the money one can go with even more dense materials to decrease the volume. Though the returns are minimal.

What weight should one start #rucking?
Depending on one's weight and body shape, most can handle 10-20 lbs dry weight which is approximately 5-9 kg in the beginning. It is better to start lighter and increase as needed.
Ruck weight is typically measured in pounds and notated with the # symbol.
In general it is recommended to stay below 33% of one's bodyweight, since that is the threshold where health damage exponentially increases.
#DailyBloggingChallenge (46/50)
Weight is categorized into two: "wet weight" and "dry weight".
Dry weight is defined as the actual weight of the object(s) that have no other purpose than being heavy.
Wet weight is defined as the complete backpack weight.
In regards to #rucking the backpack is called a "rucksack" or short "ruck".

What is #rucking?
Rucking is walking with a weighted backpack.
Technically speaking, there are no backpacks that weigh nothing, thus carrying any backpack is considered as rucking.
In the community one considers acceptable weight as weight that doesn't have any other purpose than being heavy.

Mortar and pestle is just one option of reducing the material, another option is to use a coffee mill. The benefit of the mill, especially if it is electric is that one has less physical labor.
Though are some downsides like the material might get hot, it can be quite loud, it can dull and potentially break the blade, or there is the cost of electricity.
#DailyBloggingChallenge (43/50)
When practicing #wildcrafting a mortar and pestle are intrinsically not needed, though they ease up certain conditions. For example if one wants to get into the capsule making business.
The drying of herbs takes time and are used mainly in three areas: infusions like herbal teas, tinctures like oils, or internally like with capsules.
Thus if one wants to make capsules, one should have a capsule machine with its accordingly capsule shells and the size is usually 00, a mortar and pestle, and the ingredients.

Do you take supplements and are annoyed that some are not in gel capsules. Then just convert the tablets into capsules.
The safe way would be just to put the tablet into a capsule, especially if the dosage is in concern.

How to grow a handlebar mustache?
Off the back, not everyone has the genetic makeup to grow a handlebar mustache, and secondly lots don't have the patience to follow through.
Depending on one's age and genetics, one can expect anywhere from a month to a year's time to grow such a piece.
The maintenance and shaping starts once the tips start curling. On a regular basis one should stroke the facial hair in the desired direction. This will not only create the desired look, but will also remove any old and dead hair strands.
The stroking can be done with a fine tooth comb or it can be done by pinching the hair with one's thumb and index finger and pulling towards the direction of the form.
Some might need to create a more intense part in the middle, because their genetic make up grows hair there. In the initial phase use a comb and later one can continue with the finger method.
Until now it has been described how to shape it in the dry phase without any product, next will elaborate which products to use.

How to wash a (baseball) cap?
All you need is a basin, water, some detergent, and the cap wanting to be washed.
1. Put the cap in the basin and add warm water. Then add some detergent and let it sit for a bit (ca 5min) before starting to scrub.
2. Empty the basin, add some more detergent, and scrub for ca 5min. Then fill the basin and let it soak for at least 5min.
3. Repeat step 2 until the water is not murky anymore.
4. Let the cap air dry.
The basin can be a bucket, the sink, or the tub.
Detergent options can be hand soap, shampoo, or baking soda. Any detergent that isn't too abrasive.
Scrubbing can be done with a brush or just using your fingers.
TIL that in 2018, MIT scientists created a plane powered by an Ion drive. The plane had no moving parts and was able to fly 60 metres powered solely by a flow of ions generated through electrodynamics which created thrust.

Goldenrod (Q212939) is currently in bloom and is ready for foraging. This is one of the key herbs to help combat the upcoming flu season.
Best to find the plants at least 50m away from any roadways. And cut them just below the last stems holding the flowers.
After the initial cut it is best to remove any extra foliage before laying out the flowers on sheets for drying. This is easier while the plant matter is still wet over later when it is dry.
Use screens or cardboard over metal sheets and have a breeze cycle frequently over it to reduce the chance of spoilage. This can also be done manually a couple times a day. Let them dry in a shaded area over direct sunlight.
It has been brought to my attention that the statement
> Does the building have multiple entrances and each only have one doorbell and one mailbox, then it is a semidetached building.
is false.
Does the building only have two entrances, then it is a semidetached building.
Does the building have more than two entrances, then it is a terrace building.
For more concrete mapping of each unit, checkout the key `house` (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:house)

Thanks to @amapanda for pointing this mistake out.
#DailyBloggingChallenge (38/50)
One of the trickiest quests in #StreetComplete is the distinction between an apartment building or semidetached house or detached building.
If you are able to walk in front of each structure then it becomes almost trivial, though this luxury doesn't always exist, because the access can be gated. Thus one needs a clear telltale sign.
Does the building only have one doorbell and one mailbox, then it is a detached building.
Does the building have multiple entrances and each only have one doorbell and one mailbox, then it is a semidetached building. It can be that units of the semidetached building were mapped separately, then each unit is a house building.
Does the building entrance have more than one doorbell or more than one mailbox then it is an apartment building.
One thing that can speed up the process is getting familiar with the various doorbell and mailbox models.
Some doorbells might have two buttons, but one of them is just the light. Or it could be that one is a local business bell.
Some mailboxes might have an extra slot for newspapers or a local business.
An advanced additional info is counting the amount of street cabinets with the service being trash. This will have local discrepancies and should only be taken into consideration when the telltale signs failed.

When programming with #R one thing that I am missing from #JavaScript in back tick notation. E.g.
```
const hello = 'Hello'
const world = 'World'
const helloWorld = `${hello}, ${world}!`
```
And by R with `paste0`
```
hello <- "Hello"
world <- "World"
helloWorld <- paste0(hello, ", ", world, "!")
```
#DailyBloggingChallenge (36/50)
#TIL that parsing #RegEx via `sed` and pattern matching two different syntax variants are in use. The former requires a lot of escape character where as the latter doesn't.
Take for example
```
\([0-9]\{2\}\-\)\+\([0-9]\{2\}\)
```
which is the correct syntax when using `sed`, where as it won't work with pattern matching over `=~`. In such a case it would be
```
([0-9]{2}-)+([0-9]{2})
```
This cost me so much debugging fun.
I am a strong proponent of leaving this planet better behind than when I arrived on it. Thus to get the most bang for a lifetime my key focus is #longevity which I attempt to achieve with #nutrition specifically #plantbased.
Longevity is good and all as long as you are not frail and weak. Ideally would be to die young at an old age. Thus I incorporate tactics from #biohacking and #primalfitness. Additionally I am an advocate of #wildcrafting, which is a super set of #herbalism.
