Still pretty new to Mastodon - I have accounts on a few different instances. Is there some way to link these all together?

@battaglia01 Technically speaking it is the idea that you only have one account and then talk to people over many servers with that one account. :)

There are several reasons why people would have more accounts (different local timelines, different connections), so that's fine. But you can't 'link' them together as they're seperate accounts.

You can let them all follow each other if you want, though it won't do anything special.

@trinsec makes sense! Thanks for explaining... Yeah, it's mostly for the local timelines. I guess it's possible to move an account from one server to another but not link two together?

@battaglia01 That is correct.

With the only caveat that if those 2 instances block each other (or at least one of the two does), the account can't be moved over straightaway. It might be possible to do it in a roundabout way via other instances, but I think there is a minimum cooldown period for moving around.

Unless your account is very new, then you can just hop over manually as there's not much to transfer.

Might I also point you to one of Qoto's cool features that enables you to follow remote instances and pull most of their local timelines on here? :) It's in our settings under follows and subscriptions, you might enjoy it.
