I miss the days when I could just pick up a printed and start . At present I have usually to scratch around for my ; then I have to locate my light. Once all of these 'measures' have been taken, I can start to the . Usually by this time my initial enthusiasm for has greatly dissipated.

@bibliolater @bookstodon On that note, I will share though I think ereading sucks, it solves all those problems and I can start reading when I feel like it. So that’s what I do.

@TammyGentzel @bookstodon I just do not get the same experience with as I do with printed books. Perhaps I am just too old fashioned but thank you for the suggestion.

@bibliolater @bookstodon I absolutely agree. I don’t like it. But I like to read and I have trouble with most printed books now, so….

I go to the local book store and smell the books, see the covers, the most of the time they don't have the book that I want, so I finish getting it in my beloved Kindle. But the physical book still have an emotional impact on me. And always got a voice in the back of my head saying "That book is for you!".

Oh heck yes, so right! Sigh, second hand book shops are the best... If I ever finish unboxing my library/book collection from moving house its what my house might start to smell like! 😆

I get you! I bought an iPad Air a couple of years ago specifically to use an eReader with a large screen - 27 months later still haven't read a single book on it!

I must confess: the combination of a new reading glasses and a Kindle has been a big change. I thought I was lazy, just chew 24% of physical books. It took me three days to read The Wager, by David Grann on a Kindle. Even when I love the weight and the smell of the physical books, The Kindle has been a very good experience. Probably I don't have the proper light-space-table or chair to enjoy a physical book, the Kindle Screen solve the problem.

@Lenin @bibliolater @bookstodon another big bonus for me was being able to lie in bed and read without my glasses by making the text big when I need, as well of course of having millions of books in my pocket when travelling, no need for half a suitcase of physical books for a long trip

@peet @bibliolater @bookstodon and... when the book is not , and will never be at your reach. You don't need to wait for the thing to be put into a plane and on a truck and the delivery...20 seconds or less bam!
And you can write a couple of chapters for free just to know if the book is for you.

@Lenin @bibliolater @bookstodon I should mention other E-readers are available lol, I am not a fan of Amazon and am moving to 3rd party reader apps on my phone

@peet @Lenin @bibliolater @bookstodon I love ereaders! It does make reading so much easier, for me especially reading at night in bed. I ditched my Kindle for a Nook a few years ago because I also hate Amazon, but am about to get an Onyxboox where you can use any ereader platform including library apps. onyxboox.com/
