@Revertron @rf бля как можно воспринимать в серьез своего лидера когда он выглядит вот так когда обращается к народу?

I noticed a huge influx of new users which I immediately linked to the Musk/Twitter deal. After all, the second "wave" of newcomers was when Musk just announced his interest in the deal (the first one was after Trump got banned from Twitter). However I also noticed that the majority of the newcomers are scientists/academics and wondered why... Then I found out why... Science Mag wrote a fucking article about Mastodon! 🤣🤣

Not sure how I feel about it though. On one side, I welcome more meaningful content and interesting profiles that are actually "alive". On another hand, Twitter always was an algorithm-centered, biased, privately-owned company so leaving it only NOW is just hypocrisy imho. I feel like most of these newcomers don't really hate biases and censorship, they just hate when right-wingers do it (or even just people they personally perceive as right-wingers). Not to mention, they will quickly realize that the freedom of speech here is arguably more extreme than Twitter will ever have.

In any case, welcome. I am a scientist myself although I'm trying to distance myself from the "academic" dimension of it. Just try not to be insufferable.

Maksym boosted

Science Magazine reports on the stampede: "As Musk reshapes Twitter, academics ponder taking flight. Many researchers are setting up profiles on social media site Mastodon."

Ironically (?) the journalists identifies the researchers by their Twitter handle and their Twitter follower count. Revolutions are confusing. 😎

@Cleisthenes and when they discover that some of the instances here have free speech extremism more hardcore than Twitter will ever have

My first choice was to dress up like Dahmer and go to a gay club, but I was informed that unfortunately not everyone has the same sense of humor I have. So here I am, a zombie smurf

@smugumin @PinochetsCommieCopter The kind of graph where geographic differences in voting patters come into play. Northeast Brazil voted overwhelmingly for Lula and the rest of the country voted slightly more for Bolsonaro. At the same time, northeastern states were slower in counting votes, so Lula slowly overtook Bolsonaro for that reason

@11112011 don't forget the genetically modified geese infecting only russians with deadly infections

@stux double plot twist: that woman turns out to be an islamist

Nope, this is a bar! My favorite one in the city from now one.

Infamous Cárcel Modelo, Barcelona. Yes, I do visit weird places, but this one has a lot of history.

A rare opportunity to visit the INSIDE of Torres Venecianas. What a view.

A walk around Sants neighborhood of Barcelona, that I found out used to be a city on its own

@vriska I would love to meet Gay Hitler. Seems like a chill guy

@useless_idiot I used to think like you. I used to think (and still do) that irredentism and land grab based on ethno-historical reasons is 20th century thing. I was highly sceptical of the claim that Serbians committed genocide. However, seeing how they cheer and wave Russian flags under today's circumstances opened my eyes. I don't doubt any second now how bloodthirsty Serbians are, how sadist they are in their comments on the situation. When the war started, I was convinced that this steer Serbians from Russian sphere of influence for good, since they should understand better than anyone how it feels when your country is being dismembered on some bogus ethnolinguistic basis and when you try to intervene, you get bombed. Not to mention that the level of death and destruction in Ukraine is not even comparable to what happened back then in Serbia... Yet not only they aren't disgusted by Russia's actions, they are mostly supportive of it. Serbian ideology is clear to me: whoever is even slightly sympathetic to the west must suffer 100x over what they have endured. I don't pity them. I pitied them before but they clearly have shown they aren't after justice, they are after revenge and preemptive ethnic cleansing of any nation that sympathizes with NATO. Worst of all, the conversation with Serbs is remarkably similar to conversations with a Vatnik: they will tip toe around the subject, saying how any war is bad and lament the death and destruction but will always end up blaming "the west", ukrainian nationalists, NATO etc... Anyone except Russia and if you pressure them even just a little, they will snap, call you a western bootlicker and direct you to look old maps as "proof" your nation shouldn't exist and call you racial slurs... Even if one minute ago they were calling you "orthodox slavic brother" or some shit like this. And it's always the same... They are like a carbon copy of each other. I really have absolutely nothing positive to say about Serbians. At least Russians are brainwashed... Serbians live in a country with a much more diversified source of information and consciously chose to idolize a genocidal nation. I have no respect for them whatsoever
