what really makes me sad is that eastern europe & russia is probably fucked as travel destination for decades. should've visited before "now" -.-
@bonifartius but why would you want to travel here? it's not safe, really. the crime rate is high and nobody can guarantee safety over here. foreign tourists seem fantastically rich to local aborigenes so they often become victims of robbery and even murder for profit.

Swedes have this fascination about "Ryssen kommer" (The Russian is coming, like it is one person) going back many centuries, as far back as their is recorded history, i.e. more or less viking days.
I learned Russian in school, for that same fascination, but as you said; Should have visited before "now"... Oh Well!
