activitypub is what happens if you let people who have been trained in nothing but OOP write a protocol :)
@bonifartius I don't see any OOP specifics in AP protocol. but it is unprofessionally written and has many flaws. also it's inoptimal and not suitable for intensive traffic. that's far from serious well described network protocols like IETF ones.
@iron_bug i'm cross-reading the specification right now. the whole line of thought feels like calling methods on objects.
@iron_bug you are correct in that it is really ugly and inefficient. smtp and others sure have their flaws, but they still work amazingly well.
