@zleap i'd say being against is unpopular. even if it's not generalized. it depends on the group of course ;)

*taps the sign*

Choosing to host a community on a "free" proprietary platform offered by a for-profit is choosing short term ease and long term pain, and often comes at the expense of privacy. These tools _will_ get shitty and extractive. And what then?

Community migrations are painful and lossy.

We must select tools for our community while considering a time horizon longer than the economic boom/bust cycle.

defederating dobbs.town haa to be the epitome of "fuck'em if they can't take a joke" :)

@zleap i think i looked on joinmastodon back when i joined, but i think now these directories are pretty biased to what i'd call something like "limited speech" instances.

they remove instances like fosstodon and qoto because there are people on there holding unpopular opinions about gendering speech or vaccines or guns or any other "controversial" topic.

on the other hand i don't think i'd be hard pressed to find approval of things like trump getting shot at from the instances currently listed in these directories.

it's a glaring double standard.

@zleap don't want to ruin the party, they delisted qoto a while back, amongst others.

eu really is eussr now. even has the fake votes! :troll:

Can anyone help with this? I have a new GPU but when I installed it, there's no signal to the monitor. The last owner already tested it and it worked fine, the cable and adapter are fine. The GPU even spins when installed.

@MK2boogaloo you might need to switch the video output to the gpu, at least for during boot. do you have on board gpu? if yes, you might connect to that, boot and then look around if the new card is detected?

@robin @artificialmind
that's more or less natural law instead of the positive law implemented everywhere.
