Jarring to be intubating Covid pneumonia again. In a triple vaccinated patient, 60s-ish person no less.
It was a failure on many levels:
- no public awareness the threat still exists
- Antivirals weren't offered when diagnosed a week ago
- Did not get/wasn't aware of boosters

When the Tories sold off our electricity in 1991, 5 of the ‘Big 6’ ended up in the hands of the French, German, Spanish and Swiss. Now these companies charge British consumers up to 5 times European prices in order to subsidise electric back home.

The 2008 stock market crash versus today. What do we think?

I took this photograph, and the thing that struck me the most was that of the 6 crew, 2 are my friends, and the other 4 I know by sight They are family men . Day and night. They will get to you. They will rescue you. They do not discriminate. Neither should you. Support @RNLI

I'll be marching on Tuesday with my NHS nursing colleagues and I encourage all NHS doctors who are available that day to please join us!

RT @Faye_Shepherd
Just finished a 16hr shift. Handed our patient over to another crew to continue the wait to enter hospital, This is unsafe and unsustainable for both staff and patients. This is why I will be striking on the 21st Dec. The government have blood on their hands.

One by one GP Practices will close

Since 2015 there 1900 fewer GPs

2015 Conservatives promised 5000 more GPs

2200 patients per GP - effectively 4million have lost their GPs - those GPs that are left are doing more & more

Less resources = less GPs

Saw this on Facebook and it hits the nail on the head.

Over a quarter of *private* hospitals are registered as and can claim up to 80% discount on their business rates.

Cash-strapped NHS hospitals have to pay theirs in full.

Wow. This is quite something: read this carefully:

The Govt state we can’t afford to give nurses a restorative pay rise after 12 years of pay cuts. I wonder why … 👇🏻 👇🏻 👇🏻

@socialistsunday I hope you all are well this

We need to stand firm, stand together, and get connected

I'm always very happy to follow back like minded folk

These are dark times at the moment; Tony Benn's words are so apt

RT @parkinette
@angeywatson @jeremycorbyn @theRCN I haven’t seen any hatred towards nurses - only encouragement & support!

RT @jeremycorbyn
A one-off 1% wealth tax on households with more than £1 million could fund the nurses’ demand for a fair pay rise 162 times over.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you we can’t afford to pay workers what they need and deserve.

Solidarity with members from @theRCN on strike today.

Thank you Grant Shapps for your energy saving tips on TV today.
You might have saved the life of a freezing elderly woman.
You might have made a poor Wigan family that little bit warmer.
Your sincerity & care shine through.
Bless you.

How even mild COVID-19 infection can damage your lungs

Studies are finding damage in children and the virus in lungs a year after infection, causing T-cell infiltration, scarring, and a mechanism for lung injury. 🧵1/
