Stop looking at what Final Cut and Logic Pro on iPad can do for you, the Mac veteran that's used these apps and miles of plugins for years.
Look at what these apps provide for iPad users that don't have the Mac versions of the apps. What functionality is now on iPad because of these apps that wasn't there before. For only $5/mo each.
Version 1 too. I think we're off too a great start and I'm excited for what WWDC adds to their capabilities.
Yet another installment of an Apple pundit ignores the facts to write a clickbait story about the limitations of the #iPad. Making stuff up to fit their preferred narrative. @filipeesposito at @9to5Mac
"Final Cut for iPad highlights iPadOS limitations:
This week, Apple finally released Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for the iPad – two highly anticipated apps for professionals. While this is a step in the right direction, these apps highlight the limitations of iPadOS."

Seeing people use the heck out of Logic Pro on iPad is so much fun. There's so much focus on roundtripping and feature parity in pundit reviews, but if you live in a world without a Mac these seem like pretty incredible apps today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiIbiQ5UY4U
@dennyhenke @dmoren Great post, Denny. I think you sum it up well. I, too, am delighted every time I use my iPad and see these latest announcements as a great sign of Apple’s continued commitment. I really hope Apple does not mess up what makes the iPad so special by trying to make it more Mac-like, as these pundits are advocating.
A few thoughts on Final Cut Pro for the iPad
I’m generally not big on hot takes so gave myself a few days to consider before writing a blog post. As for the news of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for the #iPad: fantastic!
Personally, I don’t do much video editing. I’ve currently got a personal/family project going in LumaFusion. My next project might be in FCP just for the fun of learning it. Way back around 2002 I spent some time doing video work and learned FCP.

A different kind #WikiPoll this week: we've been on the Fediverse for just over a month now, what kind of posts do you enjoy seeing and want more of?
Is there #Wikipedia-related content you want to see that we aren't posting?
@dennyhenke So predictable and ridiculous. Also exhausting.

Any experienced programmer worth their salt will tell you that •producing• code — learning syntax, finding examples, combining them, adding behaviors, adding complexity — is the •easy• part of programming.
The hard part: “How can it break? How will it surprise us? How will it change? Does it •really• accomplish our goal? What •is• our goal? Are we all even imagining the same goal? Do we understand each other? Will the next person to work on this understand it? Should we even build this?”
@aulia @Gartenberg Much is made that iPadOS is simultaneously not powerful enough, too simple, and yet, is not easy enough. Folks, it's an operating system that, like any, requires users to actually make an effort to learn new features. As it becomes more powerful, more capable, users that want to take advantage of those features do actually have to make an effort. The same is also true of the Mac. You cant have your cake and eat it too. #iPadOS
I was woken up today by a phone call letting me know that due purely to budgeting changes I’ve been let go from my full-time contracting position I just started in January after being laid off in September.
I am a former #Apple #engineer with 15 years of experience making apps for #iOS and #macOS. I also have experience with #Ruby. Available immediately for full time or contract work.

@dennyhenke Great post, Denny. I’m so glad you’re doing these. I, too, am growing so tired of reading these types of articles. It’s nice to see the facts spelled out. Thank you.
Left the rat race at Microsoft for traveling, writing, photography, a little coding, and whatever else seems interesting.
