I was today years old when I learned that Louis Pasteur referred to the filiform microbe B. anthracis as "vibrions baguettes."

Bacterial breadsticks!

(I know that "baguette" in French is used in a number of contexts beyond the baker's oven, but allow me my moment's chuckle.)

'We use data on changes in the in vivo concentration of monoclonal antibodies, and the associated protection from COVID-19, over time to model the dose-response relationship of monoclonal antibodies for prophylaxis. We estimate that 50% protection from COVID-19 is achieved with a monoclonal antibody concentration of 939-fold of the in vitro IC50 (95% CI: 135 - 2073).'

Folks have mentioned that Twitter is an extremely important space for sharing #protest news across the world and as a result we should keep preserving it despite the takeover.

I get it, I am #Iranian, I have relied heavily on twitter for news sharing re protests in #Iran over the years.

But what you are missing is that those same activists and protesters are MOST vulnerable to the new Twitter regime. Misinformation campaigns will be easy, and #Putin/#China/Islamic republic will use it.

Another sign Musk is making a Twitter an increasingly unpleasant and less useful forum for scientists: the COVID misinformation policy is gone.

I've been conflicted about Twitter given its important role in sci comm vs the trolling, misinfo, etc. But increasingly hard not to hope the whale fails for good.
