If you want an example of just how out of control Elon Musk is. He just lent his voice to calls for the prosecution of a man that has served 5 presidents and who’s only crime was to provide responsible health safety advice to Americans.
Had Trump listened and acted, at least 300,000 More Americans would be sat around the dinner table this Christmas.
He’s and his familial had had to have close protection simply for telling the truth. Take a moment to think about that.
#introduction The mission of the #Auschwitz Memorial is to preserve the site and all remains of the German Nazi concentration & extermination camp.
We commemorate the victims & educate about this part of human #history.
Tragedy of Auschwitz shows where hatred, #antisemitism and contempt for a fellow man led people in the past. Yet, it is a place where we should reflect on our individual and collective #responsibility for the world we live in.
Support our mission online. Amplify our voice.
I don't care what you think of the man, but the idea that Elon Musk, thug and right wing oligarch can amp up hate directed towards one man is evil. It just is. 4/
Put that into the context of the racist, antisemitic, homophobic hate unleashed on Twitter over the past few months and you can see that Elon Musk loves this, this monetizing of hate, it arouses him, it gets him going. 5/
But we NEVER rained down threats on anyone. Now Elon Musk on the bird site is tweeting out "prosecute/Fauci." 2/
This is an 81 year old scientist and physician. He and his family have had death threats for close to three years and needed Secret Service protection. 3/
New paper from our group. Leah Roberts (not on mastodon) looked into bedaquiline (BDQ) resistance in Mtb in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and then more widely in S Africa. In brief, she found repeated evolution of resistance by disruption (FS, nonsense, IS-element!) of mmpR5
'Protecting and conserving habitats is central to saving species. This idea is captured in the framework being negotiated at COP15. The draft includes the goal of conserving at least 30% of the world’s land and sea by 2030. But for protections to be most effective, they must include regions that are rich in biodiversity, such as tropical forests, Pimm says. Despite an increase in protected areas worldwide over the past ten years, species numbers have still declined, because these safeguards were not in the right places, studies show.'

CARTs in Lupus
'The re-emergence of B cells in these patients is another thing we’ll have to figure out. That just doesn’t happen in the leukemia CAR-T patients, and one obvious explanation might be that the memory B cells involved are in different tissues - bone marrow in the leukemia patients and other lymphoid organs in lupus. But that remains to be proven, and we’re going to learn some interesting things while doing that.'

‘In Homer the horizon does not recede; it pitches forward, towards our world. A red spot is not the glint of a setting sun or an artistic flourish; it is the flash of a gun muzzle.’

'MC132 suppresses the immune system by targeting NF-κB, and it had no known homologs until now. The ERV homologs of MC132 in the human genome are mostly disrupted by mutations, but there is an intact copy on chromosome 4. We found homologs of MC132 in ERVs of apes, monkeys, and bushbaby, but not tarsiers, lemurs or non-primates. This suggests that some primate retroviruses had, or have, an extra immune-suppressing protein, which underwent horizontal genetic transfer between unrelated viruses.'

Visceral take down of Hancock’s self serving attempt to rewrite history by the brilliant Rachel Clarke. The man is despicable.
Matt Hancock, hero of the pandemic? NHS staff would laugh if it weren’t a tragedy https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/dec/10/matt-hancock-hero-of-the-pandemic-nhs-staff-would-laugh-if-it-werent-a-tragedy?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
