To book an international railway ticket in Europe it SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY
1️⃣ to have expert level knowledge
2️⃣ to need to have 20 browser tabs open simultaneously
3️⃣ to have parts of your trip where you have no option other than to buy tickets on the spot
4️⃣ to have to go to a railway station, or pick up the phone to make the booking - ONLINE has to work
5️⃣ to have to consult multiple sources of information to get the best price for a single train
Last night the 11yo broke down the Google Slides middle school Chatroom for me:
1. At first they used a Google doc but the infinite scroll was too chaotic
2. In the slide deck each new slide is one “post”—some all text, some images, some both—
3. They use slides’ comments feature to “reply” to each other’s “posts”
4. This allows participants to easily flip between posts using the slide thumbnail navigation, so they can find the conversations they care about easily
5. He owns the file & if anyone spams it, deletes other people’s posts, or gets nasty, he can revert the file to its previous save state & remove the spammer’s access
6. He did share the file with me on purpose, I think because he was proud & wanted me to see what he’d made
Essentially they’ve created a chatroom with moderation in Google Slides, so they can get around the school’s ban on platforms like Discord. It’s kind of brilliant

Public transport isn't supposed to make money. It's not even supposed to break even. It's supposed to lose money and to be financed and extended from general taxes because it gives back way more than mere money.
And all the politicians know this because they keep building and maintaining streets for free
Intimidation is not "negative feedback".
Neither is mindboggling stupidity.
Nor racist commentary.
Nor continuously spouting the same, a thousand times debunked, tiring anti-scientific nonsense.
These are the primary reasons I block people.

I have unblocked everyone I blocked, apart from scammers. I recommend others do the same.
Negative feedback is a good thing.

#Recruitment #HR advice if anyone has experience:
Struggling to coordinate with two great finalists, permanent post for a small community. At what point do you assume they're not answering the phone rather than say they're no longer interested?
Do not seize the day. This will startle the day and may cause it to become aggressive and give you a nasty bite.
Instead approach the day calmly without making eye contact, pet it gently, and slowly enfold it in a careful embrace
If the day shows any signs of resistance to being engaged with, it is likely to turn on you. Back off and return to bed.
Just putting this out there, but you make these jukebox musicals, advertise them as a fun night out, then complain when the people paying you sing and dance along?

I am in love with my new safety glasses! They will also do prescription lenses if you need them. 10/10 recommend. https://safestyle.com.au/

NEW ARTICLE: On Filmmaking: Ten Great Tracking Shots
After the enthusiastic response to a recent Medium article from me on what I believe to be “the greatest tracking shot in film history”, I thought a sequel was in order — but this time, ten great tracking shots instead of just one!
