# The SwiftKey incident: A Breach of Privacy

The Reddit user's experience with the SwiftKey keyboard showcased the potential magnitude of a cloud synchronization glitch. What seemed like a minor issue quickly escalated into a data leak involving sensitive information like phone numbers, email addresses, and personal words.

The originating question was, if I should simply use the pre-installed keyboard app (swift key). I should have trusted my instincts and use an opensource offline keyboard app.

I use AnySoftKeyboard app from marketplace.

Some say: "But the smileys are not so funny in this keyboard..."
How to approach that ?

@dbread AFAIK most emojis appear uniquely either for the software or for the font in use.

@dbread lots of times I don't like the pre-installed tools and to software that better fits my usage. Although is more secure out of the box as other flavors, still opted for the + combo, since the prior I can swipe to type and the latter just holds the emojis.
