Are all digital college libraries as shitty as mine?

@obi Hehe, you mean in terms of databases/journal/ebooks? I attend a community college and they have a lot of good resources. The only gripe I have is for resources with apps the single sign on doesn’t work so I have to use the web version on my phone.

@derickflorian Yeah, the amount of resources in the library is exceptional. The architecture and performance of the library is crap, and those resources are barely accessible i.e links to access timeout, unavailable, or take you to the wrong resource.

Follow

@obi that would be frustrating. I guess some of that could be down to the people maintaining it have really good knowledge of the resources available and how to access them, but maybe they are not as technical?

I have to say I am super impressed overall with the Virginia Community College system. I am in Pittsburgh and all of the community colleges here seems to do everything individually, but the Virginia system seems to handle the infrastructure centrally and then the individual colleges have their library staff as the subject matter experts instead of on the backend as well.

@derickflorian I'm about 3.5hrs away from you in Olean. I'm in the SUNY system. No bueno.

@obi Oh, nice. I have an Aunt who worked at the Athletic department at St. Bonaventure. I haven’t been there though, but just right below the PA border in a town named Shinglehouse.

@derickflorian Yup. St. Bonaventure is right down the road from my in Allegany. Shinglehouse is about 40mins east.
