My wish for Christmas is that mastodon defaults to at least 1000 characters

That would be nice - the instance my account is on has much higher limit, but some clients are hard coded and enforce 500 chars max, a pain in butt.

Love *Pinafore*, the fastest client I have used but it rigorously enforces the 500, no post button until you are under it.

Could them not provide a Config option to allow user to override the 500 limit? That is not much to ask, me thinks.

It works well for me too, and I find it a pleasant mobile client. But I hit that 500 chars limit just now and it's a pity when our instance allows 65K chars. 😞

So Tusky allows you the large, up to the 24K characters per post permitted on your instance?

I have looked all over the settings and didn't find any controls for that.

Pity specially for Pinafore, which I really enjoy for the speed. Same 500 chars enforced post limit.
