A quick observation/thought:
It seems that some people cling to law as though it were scripture/morality code. In some cases, I think people can conflate the two. Do you care about a piece of legislature because it's a good idea, positive social contribution, etc..., or simply because it's an existing law?

@teknonomicon I have observed that behaviour too. And then they look at you shocked, when if declare it's a bad law and should be changed, abolished or just plain ignored.
Society is slow to change, and the people in power use this to their advantage.
But, the rule of Law!
