** To all the nice people who follow my account at Qoto.org : **

I have started building up and using a new account at Muensterland.social, a new instance for me, which is the home for all my Blog Publishing from now on.

Details ? here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/muenster

If you are interested in what I post here -- be i the photos, the Fediverse reporting, my opinions, news and commentary, etc, I would suggest you consider following this, my sister account : @rgx

I am a Staff member here at Qoto, and don't plan to change that - but for my personal Writing content, I see this diversion as a needed move.

And it's already working as I expected, thankfully. Soon I will write a new page detailing and explaining my reasoning - and I look forward to publishing it.

Thank you for your attention and support in my personal journey.

I wish you the best of luck in your move. But I wouldnt really have high hopes of that platform being a very large soap box for your posts. I do hope it works for you..

At a glance the admin of the instance has 24 followers, you have 11.

Compare that to here where you have 322 followers and I have 14,300 or something.

Because of the nature of the fediverse any posts you make there are simply not going to be seen on almost any federated timelines. It sucks because it seems like a nice instance and I wish it didnt work that way. But sadly I think youll quickly find yoru screaming into a void and will have some trouble building up a following.

You'd probably be better served by just posting in both places simultaniously IMO.

Either way, best of luck and I hope it works for you.

Thank you, I can see positive signs for the content I am focusing there. I considered other places where I have a longer established presence and like the community - Hackers.Town in fact, but if that was my base, my posts there would not be seen here, as they are not seen there if posted here.

As you know, that is the reason. Muensterland is a wonderful platform, a personal instance for me at the moment, and with Nickla's blessings, I will be adding content and inviting deserving people to join me there.

While keeping and being active people.

I try not to overwhelm this account with my beloved Cat posts and photos, so having M.S as a second base means I can do twice the cat posting per day, my runs are about 6 or so, then I pause.

I have Crossposters setup to feed into Qoto or MS equally easily, one letter change on a hashtag is all I need to direct a post to either one.

AND -- I find the posts I craft there are way more meaningful in Visual content, I must use that as it's available now. I know you are planning to bring it here, and thank you for the care and effort needed.

But even so, the reasons for a separate presence remain, just as strong.

my follower count there is growing organically - from people who noticed the posts and liked the content. I did not promote it actively, and the intent of this post here is just so interested people know what is happening, and there is more of my stuff out there.

In consideration to the local friends here at Qoto, I have already been doing the Real Release posts at MS, but copying a smaller, stripped down version and posting here, possibly with Local-Only, non-federating settings on.

The point im getting at is your fighting against the inherent paradox of the fediverse.

The only reason that server isnt blocked by anyone is that because its so small it doesnt yet federate with anyone. None of the posts show up on the federated timeline of other feeds, no one notices it or hears from it, so no one has had a chance to block it, since they dont know it exists.

Organic growth on the fediverse relies largely on showing up in federated feeds and people noticing it. That ultimately depends on how well federated an instance is, which itself depends on how many collective followers it has. The end result is that even if everyone is reboosting yoru posts, no one will see it since it doesnt federate out.

I do agree the server will grow over time. but the thing is right now everyone has 10 or 20 followers. But the time any user on that server reaches 100 or 300 folloers like you do on QOTO at that point you will find your finally showing in federated feed and will have similar momentum you have here, indeed. But what you will also find is that now you've been seen by the radicalized instances like hackers.town and others that block indiscriminately. You will quickly find the server is blocked by half the fediverse and you are right back to where you started and need to move instances again.

In short you have two options on the fesdiverse.. 1) use a small unknown instance, have no voice or ability to grow, so there is no blocking but no federation either or 2) use a instance that is larger, highly federated, but blocked by half the fediverse.

I think your trying to compensate for something you cant compensate for. It may partly be because you dont understand fully the inner mechanics of how federation works and how people are able to see your posts or not through reboosts and federation, which depends largely on following count.

@rgx

@freemo @rgx @design_RG I don't think my server will get blocked by that many instances as long as everyone behaves nicely πŸ˜ƒ It's very easy to get on kyzhs blocklist (and I didn't even manage to get on it yet lol) but most other admins do some research before choosing to block a instance.The reason for having so few followers there is that my main account is here and I don't use the other one actively.But federation is fully functional,nothing is preventing you from getting hundreds or thousands of followers.Well,maybe my bandwidth does but I'll find a solution when that starts to become a problem πŸ˜‰

@nipos
I am greatly enjoying the service, Niklas, thank you -- and it is a pleasure to see a post I make there be available in all 12 or so accounts in my Pinafore client.

I got tired of people not seeing my content, and took action, as an Author, to get on an open platform.

Sadly here at Qoto that is not the case, and with some instances that are important to me.

I also plan to blog extensively of my reasoning and the current situation with this sad bunch that is in fact acting like the Fascists they are out to condemn.
