* Screenshots of Alternative Pleroma Front Ends

1 and 2 : SoapBox FE, by Alex Gleason, a project still in progress but can be seen and tested already at some places. Light and Dark modes shown. jaeger.website/

3 : BloatFE running on Expired.Mentality.RIP instance, one of the 3 front ends supported there.

Thanks to @igel and @a1batross for the service.

LOL, yeah -- Bloat has wonderful use of the wide display in my laptop (something I highly prize!) but indeed looks like a Beta version still.

Soapbox FE is more polished and has a big focus on making things simpler, a big help for its potential users. I think it will be quite successful as an alternative FE -- and could come to Mastodon too someday.

@design_RG @a1batross @igel i'd rather fill the space with tiles or columns than just stretch the words out. there's typographical reasons newspapers still use columns and books are thicker rather than wider.

but if that's your thing you can use stylish to rip the width off any of the websites you frequent https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/ :blobcatscience:

@icedquinn

Thank you for the suggestion, I will check it out. I have been using an enhanced wide screen layout that I really enjoyed. But it's true that simply going for very wide panels is not ideal.

I created a topic describing it, and sent a suggestion to the Glitch-Social team, who might chose to implement it maybe.

The Toots display in Bloat FE is indeed too wide.
