I never, ever use the term "reverse racism". But I will be accused of it.
This picture shows that these people are creating a silo where they only allow the politically correct party line.

@dietrich
Seems like an okay request to make, offhand?

@ceoln By itself. But that mentality is spiralling. And they egg each other on into victimhood etc etc. Then they want reparations.

Mention all the times you as a white person were subject to violent crime/POC perps, you'd be lucky if it was just crickets.

But no then that makes YOU are racist.

@dietrich
I'm not sure who "they" is, here? Could be that there are just some people you don't want to engage with. That's true of everyone. :)

@ceoln they-those who post "blacks/poc only" threads which are full of falsities and diss on white people and overgeneralize and the woke white people who parrot what they are being told and say you are a racist if you don't toe the line.

Wish I could engage but they are like body-snatchers luring otherwise-interesting people into their cult of whatever the party line happens to be. It is necessary to be able to engage these folks to get any kind of coalition going unless you prefer to engage with QAnon crazies on the other side of the political fence.

@dietrich I would definitely not engage in "blacks/poc only" threads if you aren't black/poc. I mean, how could that possibly end well? :)

That isn't how coalition-building happens. Engage with potential allies in the ways and places where they are open to engagement.

@ceoln good point. But the level of trust is not what it could otherwise be. It is not so much that isolated post for POC-only it is that they are in a silo and con themselves into amped up belief in their own victimhood and righteousness. And become vitriolic at any dissent.

Her post is a symptom of a larger problem.

They claim victimhood in some cases for shit that happened 150 years ago. But black-on-white crime is a reality they won't acknowledge.

A kid puts anti-black graffitti on a wall in Florida and it makes the news in Seattle. A white person gets robbed at gunpoint in Philly and it doesn't even make the evening news in Pennsylvania.

That is a problem and that is why Trump and DeSantis are getting away with what they do.

As long as these people silo themselves and run the left left so out of touch with white working class, the fascism will continue to flourish and there won't be too much that can be done for people who shut off dialogue.

@dietrich I'd urge you to put yourself in "their" shoes a bit. The "shit that happened 150 years ago" has had a huge effect on the distribution of generational wealth today, for instance. It's not by any means over.

In anti-racist contexts, "black-on-white crime" is most often brought up by people trying to derail a discussion. Even if you aren't doing that, it's understandable that people might jump to the conclusion.

@ceoln All true. But I suspect that there is a lot more black-on-white violent (robbery, rape) than the reverse. Assault, maybe less. People base politics on personal experience, hence the left is unhinged from the working class. Sad reality of the matter. If true, explains incarceration rates, capital punishment. That, plus institutional which I don't deny is a big factor.

@dietrich : Sure, but how is it relevant? What is the point of bringing it up? Is black-on-white violence somehow different from any other x-on-y violence? In what context would it be somehow helpful to mention it? Obviously addressing poverty, the availability of guns, hopelessness, etc, will reduce all violent crime, including whatever x-on-y type you care to name. So...?

@ceoln so so much for "reparations" endless victimhood posturing I never owned slave and never robbed nobody at knifepoint. I am not asking for reparations for all the violence directed at me by blacks.

@dietrich I'm not sure, again, exactly what your point is. You seem angry at someone, but I don't know if I can offer any help, really.

The fact that you've had violence directed at you personally is regrettable, but it's not directly related to the fact that millions of Africans were enslaved and their forced labor used to (for instance) build the USA, and then treated unjustly for generations afterward.

No one is asking you personally for reparations, or blaming you personally for that, if that's any help.
