@xahlee@mstdn.io so the community site and makes no progress.... There went my desire to learn emacs.

@xahlee@mstdn.io That just seems silly. Is there even a Common Lisp implementation?

SBCL would be the closest thing that I know of but I don't think it's an actual GNU project.

has GNU blessings, why is that even a fight?

@xahlee@mstdn.io it looks like there was a 'Summer of Code' project to get it boostrapped in 2015 and there hasn't been any progress since.

Judging from the lack of progress I don't think the community is all that interested in moving.

11:30 on a Friday night and I'm reading Emacs tutorials.

I blame @xahlee@mstdn.io 😅

US Politics

@williamlweaver I think part of the reason is opinion pieces like that. So many half truths and misattribution errors that I almost didn't finish reading it. I can see how people feel divided when pieces like this and the stuff that comes out of the WoPo+HuffPo keep maligning reality.

@xahlee@mstdn.io do you think there'd be community support for a remake of emacs using rather than elisp? Guile is the official GNU scripting language.

Man, Emerald guitars have some interesting features. Just need to find somewhere to preview one.

@williamlweaver I'm really happy that our economy is booming but it bothers me that we've had to artificially stimulate it via revocation of environmental protections.

We're cashing in our our future for artificial gains today.

@x0rz or set up a bot to request passwords but never use them?

So is there a Medium.com replacement that's not a piece of worthless shit?

@mydogisahusky I can't either, but that's because I have a 14yr old in the house.

My friend that moved to Alaska emailed me to tell me that a bear broke into his truck and destroyed all his fishing gear and his cooler.

Suddenly morning traffic seems less annoying.

@xahlee@mstdn.io Haskell encourages point free programming, so you can pass a partially applied functions into others.

For your current problem can you not create a closure with the other arguments of your function bound in their environment?

@Trillenial Telegram isn't open-source. Part of the problem is the network effect but the other part is the lack of a clear winner in the solution space. There's no FOSS software as polished as WhatsApp.
