Additionally, maybe some sort of indicator on posts in the Home timeline to denote how they got there (i.e. Are you following this person? Did a hashtag inject this post into your timeline?) This idea somewhat exists already with labels on "[Username] boosted" content.

There have been times when I've wondered "how did this post show up?" and often requires some detective work to uncover the answer. More transparency would be helpful, especially in a non-algorithmic feed.

Hey did y'all know that I've been hard at work writing a technical book for No Starch Press that teaches journalists and researchers how to investigate hacked and leaked datasets? It's called Hacks, Leaks, and Revelations, and it will be published some time next year nostarch.com/hacks-leaks-and-r

Politics

"The Former, Twice Impeached President of the United States launched his first bid to delay his indictment and imprisonment by pretending to run for President and thereby creating the false impression that he cannot be held to legal account for his many crimes."

Not what I’d have expected from NPR, but it’s 100% true. Good for them.

It’s crazy how well #mastodon works given that it’s nearly entirely community driven.

It’s almost as if we don’t even need #bigtech, we just need passion, purpose, code, and connectivity.

We, #trans people, youth and adults, just wanna live. Oh, and thrive.
That's all.

We want human rights.
We want health care, decided by our doctors, not politicians.
We wanna pee, in peace.

It's simple.

If you find any of it problematic, you're the problem.

Cozy long sleeved shirts - layers of them! Heavy blankets in a slightly chilly room. Cookies that I only get at Yule. Sweet and creamy hot tea in big mugs.
Thanks for posting about this. The "little" joys really are the important things.

#Metatext currently defaults to “toot” has a setting to change the verbiage to “post”. Toot will always remain out of respect for its history, but should the default setting be:

omg - my wife and I still laugh about a trip to Kansas at least 15 years ago when I said, "Oooooh! Look at the baby horse!" and she replied, "P o n y." Bwahahahah!!

Major corporate virtual speaking talk today! So nervous and excited!

I’m doing it without slides, which I love. Just someone firing questions at me about how to be a better advocate to disabled people.

I made slides to store the resource links. After sound check I’ll pop them up somewhere and hashtag them #EverywhereAccessible - that’s my foundation’s hashtag.

#Zoom closed captions enabled should be the default for every 👏 meeting 👏. It should not matter who is hosting, or if it's a physical room setup issue. No one should have to request closed captioning at the start of a meeting. #DigitalAccessibility

Don’t let politicians tell you there isn’t public support to #BringBackMasks. There is. What we lack is a government willing to lead, to truly take care of infants and children (and seniors, people with disabilities, essential workers, educators, healthcare workers). #WeNotMe

I'm not a scientist, but I work in IT. I don't know that folks in this org would not want you here. :)
(Unless I'm asked to leave as well!)

I always have mixed feelings about trans awareness week and trans day of visibility, because most cis people who talk about it go exclusively for the "you are valid" angle instead of the "trans healthcare has collapsed entirely and we need to do something about that" angle. Like I appreciate the first one, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it reads as a little shallow when you don't also talk about the second. You get me?
