@penguin42 @bloor with is that "no auto update on Linux" about tho? Every distro ships it with a repo., right?!?

From the FT comments section: “We’re in this absurd situation in which the world’s finest analysts with all their technological equipment spend all their energy on understanding a guy whose thoughts are often just six fireflies beeping randomly in a jar.”

Travelling to the US

Irish passengers travelling to the US are being warned to delete social media apps from their devices if they have been openly critical of President Trump online.

I would suggest that anything published that is not viruently pro MAGA is likely to be of cobncern. Much better just to not bother travelling to the US at all, you know it makes sense.

Long shot maybe, but does anyone in Fedi have experience with temp agencies in #Brighton or UK? #job urgently needed…

Are they worth it? Just looking for office admin or marketing

Manufacturers who sell TVs in the UK & want the TV to run BBC iPlayer (BBC Public Service live/on-demand TV app) have to get their TVs certified by us. There's a large suite of tests & technical requirements - a colleague just pointed out to me that those docs are public:

certification.bbctvapps.co.uk/

TVs on UK sale now & marked with the iPlayer logo must support:
* TLS 1.2+
* Mutual TLS (client certs)
* HTTP/2+
* Service Workers
& lots more...those just caught my eye

A question specifically for people in Toronto

-- i found a taker --

I have a question for people who understand COMPILERS.

So the cross-platform standard for storing symbol information seems to be DWARF.

Are there limitations on what kinds of systems one can generate DWARF files for? Say I'm targeting an exotic platform— generating an NES ROM or making a compiler for an 8-bit microcomputer. Can I just haul off and make a DWARF for that? Would existing retrocomputing tooling, like I don't know if there are existing NES debuggers, support loading such a DWARF?

@UKFilmNerd the current equivalent is probability the War of the Worlds Immersive Experience. I've done that and was fun, and scary!

Really? REALLY?

The guy who thought you could inject bleach under the skin to cure COVID. You thought that guy had an economic plan??

The guy who is scared of windmills because he thinks they give you cancer. That guy? This is the guy you looked to for financial advice??

The guy who THOUGHT YOU COULD NUKE A HURRICANE. That guy. THAT'S the guy you thought had complex ideas about global trade markets. REALLY? FUCKING REALLY?

Footnote: the reason Trump is non-serious about business is because Trump doesn't understand how real businesses work. He thinks like a mobster, or a real estate salesman: all customer interactions are a prisoner's dilemma with no iteration (how many times a month do you buy an office block from the same salesman?!?) so *of course* "always defect" is a winning game-theoretical strategy.

But in the real world, most businesses are built on repeat trade. And Trump has never experienced this.
