In my opinion, the generic icon that the GNOME dock uses for applications that don't have an icon is extremely bad. It looks too similar to the Settings icon.

Can YOU guess which of the below icons is the GNOME settings app and which is tidal-hifi (no icon)?

Starship Troopers celebrated its 27th anniversary on November 7. So it's a great opportunity to take a look back at a small part of his creation!

OTD in 1999 the OSCE conference was in Istanbul. Russia promised to remove our troops from Moldova & Georgia by end of 2002.

We lied. Which is why Ukraine should believe our promises now & negotiate…

HOW COOL IS THIS? 🤩

Women in #Bolivia are #KNITTING tiny #occluders ('top hats' to block a hole in the #heart) of ELASTIC METAL, which are then folded up in a catheter, inserted into the body, travel ON THEIR OWN to the heart, then 'pop open' to their proper shape, b/c they 'remember' what shape they are supposed to be.

Three weeks after Voyager 1 autonomously flipped over to using the S-band transmitter for communicating with earth because of a power overload condition, it appears that it is back to communicating using X-band.

No word from NASA, but presumably the team managed to turn off the heater that caused the power surge and re-enable the X-band transmitter.

Phew 😓

Taken! I made someone happy!!!
I still have my first computer, an Osborne Executive with all of its original software and manuals. It still worked great when I last booted it up in 1999. We're really trying to not hang on to stuff forever, so it's heading for the electronics recycling in a week unless someone wants it. Free, but I don't think I can deal with shipping it anywhere, so pick-up in Woburn, MA.
(Computer details at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_)
(Any ideas, @knizer?)

@tewalds @stepleton well, on AWS for instance a static IPv4 now costs money, and they won't set a rDNS on an IPv6 so you can't even run a IPv6 only service

@neil @stepleton @aaisp Same here. Provided you have SPF, DKIM, DMARC and rDNS set up correctly, and adequately secure against spammers relaying, it will work fine.

@stepleton run one on for ages. You get basically-free static IPv4 and ability to set reverse DNS
