One man decided to take on #GoogleMaps, 20 years later #OpenStreetMap is still going strong
If you ever know someone who has been caught up in a Big News Story, DO NOT SPEAK TO THE MEDIA, not ever.
You cannot sway the discourse unless you are very well trained to do so. Your words will be used to prove whatever people want to prove, not what you are saying.
The kindest thing you can ever do for someone you love who has become a person of interest to the global news media is say "no comment" and tell everyone else who knows them to do the same.
@acidiclight @aks The key property with #Debian here is: I get to choose my own blast radius.
Do I need the latest features of package X? (This has, at times, been the case for me with #digikam) OK fine, build it, flatpak/docker/whatever. Otherwise, my system gets to stay stable.

Hmmmmm, what a lucky man I am to have a wife who was ready to taste later and drive us on… Now it’s her joy to take sips of great whiskys. The tour of the Cragganmore distillery was fascinating (and – thanks to some Canadian fellows – funny), tasting as well – and I wouldn‘t have been able to drive us securely for more than 50 metres… In the end, I bought a bottle and two cups. Well, I‘m a tourist… #scotland #whisky #vacation

If I ever go I'm taking a burner with a different PIN on it and making sure I only log into accounts that require 2FA.
Lufthansa, in their wisdom, decided that the first of my 4 night break in krakow would be better spent in an airport Hotel, listening to the aircon unit leak into the metal bin i placed there. So to make up for it, they decided not to fly me home, but to give me 24 hours in an airport Hotel in the arse end of Frankfurt. Thanks, lufthansa!

When the company calls their home appliances "smart", what I hear is:
- they spent money on features I care about
- those features will be worse than standalone devices but will drive them out of market (looking at you TVs)
- the appliance is more likely to break
- my data is likely being sold to advertisers
- when the company loses interest in it and cut support, I will need to buy a new device
So no, I don't want "smart" home appliances.
What is the most annoying feature on other platforms that you think Codeberg (or #Forgejo) does better?
Another thing I can't help but notice: I assumed that when Tidal for Samsung TV shut down it would be like, they shut off some endpoint and the app presents an error. In fact the Samsung TV itself, if I try to open the app, says "This TIDAL has been terminated and is no longer available. Do you want to delete the selected item(s)?". So Samsung can remotely disable any software running on my TV. Uh? I really do hate smart TVs. They are simply devices designed to betray you.

Why are sentences for violent disorder lower than those for peaceful protest?
The criminal justice system should not treat rioters less harshly than demonstrators

There are a lot of great #debugging tools for Python but even with just standard library with no external dependencies, you have powerful tools with the Python debugger.
