Any experts in #GrapheneOS / #Android able to help me debug this eInk app?
The (non-Play) app installs, asks for location, and then claims it doesn't have permission.
It works fine on stock Android - but won't run on Graphene.

"I found that penguins differed in their reactions to being hoisted between human legs. Some were calm, mildly befuddled at how they got a foot off the ground. Others acted as if they were possessed, squirming and slapping and biting. Penguins are beefy birds, sleek bullets of swimming muscle, torpedoes of power, and they slapped impressively hard."

I just got kicked off my health insurance again, so not only do I need a new doctor even moreso but now I can't afford my prescriptions. If you can afford to, I could really use a couple dollars.
This week, Kenneth and Eugene look at Season 1, Episode 21 of Space Above and Beyond, entitled Sugar Dirt. They look at bad historical analogies, check in on this week’s contestant on Wheel of Court Martial and ask the question, “What has the 58th been eating for three months?”

I don't think it's possible to undersell exactly what just happened. A handsome, white, upper-middle class man from the Midwest, with an ivy league education and chronic debilitating pain just, without help from anyone else, 3D printed a ghost gun and a silencer at home and used it to execute a wall street CEO.
This murder completely robbed MAGA of all their previous excuses. This wasn't feminism. It wasn't immigrants. It wasn't brown or black people. It wasn't a trans person. It wasn't a left coast elitist. It wasn't mental illness. It wasn't a blue-haired leftist. It wasn't Marxism. It wasn't communism.
This was the consequence of two previously unrelated right wing mechanisms suddenly coming together: the Venn diagram of unregulated healthcare and unregulated guns. This is the MAGA deregulation machine attacking itself. And they are completely unprepared for it.
A Florida woman has been charged with terrorism for expressing frustration at blue cross and blue shield for denying her health insurance claim.
Understand this fact -- this is not about silencing her. It is about silencing all of us. And we must peacefully but firmly resist.

@splorp ... and a stack full of Newtons?!?
FIFA and Saudi Arabia clearly at the capers. No voting structure? No problem. Just clap very loudly for Saudi. Raise your hands for an actual count? Actually physically cast a vote? Don't be silly.
What is the main use you give to your preferred #retrocomputing system?
Boosts and comments with more details are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for being involved in this 🙂

@simon_brooke I would encourage everyone who signs this to ALSO submit a response to the consultation directly. In my experience drives like this, even if they collect thousands of signatures and form responses, get collected and counted as a single "campaign response" and as only a single vote when it comes to determining positive or negative sentiment.
So hey, a ray of light:
One of my clients, [huge company you have heard of], just DECLINED a [vendor] offer to install a “first one’s free” proof-of-concept AI server with a pile of fancy GPUs, because *the power requirements were so high they would skew a key internal sustainability metric*.
AI nonsense being delayed or deferred because of a green energy initiative? Inject that shit right in my veins!
@SwiftOnSecurity I dislike autocomplete because it feels like a 5 year-old trying to complete your sentence when you're slow to finish.
Here's the WPEngine vs Automattic preliminary judgement.

Looks like WPEngine get everything they ask for (restored access, SCF back, etc.)
And, yes, Matt's intemperate social media posts were used against him
#curl 8.11.1 has been released. It includes a fix to #CVE_2024_11053 - a #vulnerability I discovered.
It is a logic flaw in the way curl parses .netrc file. In certain situations, the configured password can be sent to a incorrect host. Luckily the affected configurations should be quite rare and thus the situation is unlikely to occur often.
The issue has existed in the curl source code for almost twenty-five years.

No AI tools were used in discovering or reporting the vulnerability.
Round one goes to WP Engine. Automattic is slapped with a preliminary injunction and must restore the status quo right away while the case continues toward trial. https://www.theregister.com/2024/12/11/wp_engine_wins_injunction_against/
@bremner Oh. My. God. YES!!!
“Would you recommend Microsoft Excel to a friend or colleague?”
Are you actually kidding me? If there’s a single person left on the planet who doesn’t know, for their own purposes, exactly what to think of Excel/Teams/outlook/allTheOtherShit, then I am not going to be responsible for shattering their peace.
